After updating WordPress to 5.6 I get the following jQuery error:

Uncaught ReferenceError: jQuery is not defined at av_privacy_cookie_setter

    #1265977

maybe they did an update fo jQuery. in Preparation to php8
On one of my installation the shrinking header script does not work after that WP5.6 install.

Try to test the Enable jQuery Migrate Helper Plugin in this case.
After Installation under Tools – jQuery Migrate and switch to Legacy 1.12.4 – and test if that helps til fix is available

    #1265991

Going back to legacy jQuery 1.12.4 by using Enable jQuery Migrate Helper plugin worked for me. Thanks!

@Guenni007, I already knew this plugin. It’s all about Günter to fix this as soon as possible. At theme level.

    Hi Webvriend,

Could you post a link to your site so that we can have a closer look please? Here’s a live installation running Enfold 4.7.6.4 and WordPress 5.6, but I can’t see any error messages: http://wpexpert.se/enfold/

    Best regards,
    Rikard

Thanks @guenni007 – switching to legacy 1.12.4 fixed my broken/stuck shrinking header after WP 5.6 update. What was interesting is that another website I manage with same header settings and customizations didn’t show the same issues after the 5.6 update. I don’t understand jQuery enough to figure out why that was but I appreciate you providing the fix!

    @Staff members
Do you know when günter will start working on updates again?

    @Rikard
The error occurs at “av_privacy_cookie_setter”. Maybe you can enable the cookies on your test environment. Then you experience the problem I think too.

    #1266517

The jQuery errors occur throughout the whole backend. Enfold was one of the best themes. Unfortunately the development can not keep up with changes in WordPress and now causes one issue after the other. And please stop asking your users for error descriptions or screenshots. Just use the developer console yourself and see all the errors yourself.

    #1267046

Is it clear when Günter will start with fixes?

    #1267362

    Hi Webvriend,

We are working to get the problems with WordPress 5.6 fixed as soon as possible.

    Best regards,
    Rikard

    Thanks Rikard

    #1274073

Is the release of Enfold 5.0 already known?

    #1274085

    Hi,

We are at the final stage of testing and will release new version before the end of the month :)

    Best regards,
    Yigit

    #1274087

@Yigit Yes, that’s good news I’m looking forward to it greetings!

Hi there – having upgraded my version of WP I have the ‘blank page on edit’ issue as described here. Is the fix still this same plugin please?
    best
    Dan
EDIT: I’ve since rolled the site back to 5.5.1 but the issue persists. Which is a bit annoying!

    #1281856

Thanks – but I’ve installed the plugin, set it to the legacy version. But still nothing appears when trying to edit content. Any ideas? (Pretty sure it’s not the cache as that was my first thought…)
    thanks, Dan

    #1282073

    Hi danno99uk,

Please open a new ticket for your problem. Provide us admin access to have a deeper look into the issue, as well as precise links where we can see the issue. Screenshots highlighting what’s going on would help a lot (imgur.com, dropbox).

    Best regards,
    Victoria

    #1282479

    Thanks victoria doing that now

    Hi danno99uk,

You’re running version 3.8 and the latest version of the theme is 4.7.6.4. That version is not built to work with WordPress5+. Please update the theme.

    Best regards,
    Victoria

    #1283486

Hi Victora – thanks. Having a bit of a nightmare with this now.
I’m using a child theme, so I’ve updated the parent Enfold theme manually via FTP, but now getting the Critical-error-of-doom message on the domain (as detailed: https://wordpress.org/support/topic/critical-error-on-your-website/)

Changing the name of my plugin folder made no difference. I’ve enabled debug mode which has captured the output below. It’s not really what I expected to see TBH but it means I’m not quite sure where to go from here.

    Any ideas?
    Thanks, Dan

UPDATE: restored the site from backup, but still unable to get into the Avia editor :-/ (that shows the critical error, but at least only visible to admins).

    #1283825

    Hi danno99uk,

Please try to upload the new version of the theme to a separate folder via FTP, you can call it enfold_new for example. After you have upload it, then change the name of the old folder to enfold_old, and the new one to only enfold. If everything should work out, then you can delete the old folder. If not, then you can rename the folders again. https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/install-enfold-theme/#ftp-install

If you should need help with updating, then please open a new thread and include WordPress admin and FTP login details in private.

    Best regards,
    Rikard
