I use Enfold since
I updated my site from version 4… to 5.4 and since then I have a lot of problems. I managed to repair several of them but there are still some left. I updated all the components (WordPress, Woocommerce, Plugins, Theme, etc) and tried to deactivate the plugins but I still have some unresolved issues:1 – When I load the home page of the site, the slider does not load correctly, The image appears but there is a large white space below with the arrows of the slider. When I go down to the bottom of the page and go up to the top everything goes back to normal layout.
2 – Same problem a little further down in the same home page, the green icons appear very small but after unwinding the page and reassembling, they return to their normal shape
3 – Since the last update I have problems with Masonry Gallery.
I fixed the missing spaces problem with some code I found on this forum, but I have another problem:
When the page loads the layout of the masonry is not correct but it readjusts correctly when I resize the browser window
(see image attached), see problem here: https://vestiges.ca/portfolio-tournage/ and here: https://vestiges.ca/portfolio-couteaux/4- I using enfold for almost 10 years. It has always been very slow for me. I made all these updates in the hope of improving the performance of my site which has always been rather slow, but with these last updates it is worse than before. The home page takes forever to load (a average of E score at GTMetric with 12 seconds to load). Even the backend is very slow, 4-5 seconds up to 30 seconds when I click. Why I lost so much speed, it’s at least 3 times worse than before!
Thanks for your help !
February 3, 2023 at 9:07 am #1396511Hi,
It’s been 3 days since I asked my questions and still no answers. My website is no longer really functional since the last update and I bought a technical support license to get your help. Someone can help me ?February 4, 2023 at 1:03 am #1396623Hi,
Sorry for the late reply and Thanks for your patience, your first error, the white space under your slider is caused by the Smush plugin LazyLoad option, you can Exclude it from your homepage:
I did this for you, Smush is aware of this issue, we can not correct this behavior from the theme.
This seems to have also corrected your second issue.
To correct your third issue I disabled the Smush LazyLoad option completely.
For your fourth issue I tested your site on webpagetest.org, the test is linked below, since your site is in Canada I tested at that location and your site has a First Byte of 6s, this is due to the server, normally you should only see about 300ms
you also have a custom font re.woff2 that is giving a 404 and adding 7s to your page load, try removing this custom font and check again.Best regards,
MikeFebruary 4, 2023 at 5:49 am #1396630Hi, thanks for your reply. I was wondering if you forgot me…
About the custom font, where I can remove it ?
I don’t remember using custom fonts. How can I do to change it? I checked on the home page I I don’t find this font. And about my hosting provider, why my site performance dropped since the last update.
My site was not very fast before, but since the last update it is 3 times slower, hard to believe that the problem is only due to the host. How can I verify that it really comes from the host? And can the host do anything to make it go faster (I have to ask what?)With the current slowness it’s like if my site didn’t work at all, no one is going to wait to load. I really need help, what I can make ?
February 4, 2023 at 6:27 am #1396631I don’t know if it can have a link with my slowness problems but after the updates, I no longer had access to the Avia Page Builder in any page. After a lot of research I found that there could be a bug if there were http links in the page (instead of https). So I did this:
When the page opens the Avia page editor does not load (spinning circle) so I open the default editor and the html code is displayed, I copy-paste the text into a text editor and do a search and replace for all http: to https: and I paste all the text into the wordpress page. Then I save the page (update button at the top right).
It seems to have worked in all pages except for the home page where it doesn’t. Every time I close the page and re-open it, avia bulder does not load and there are still all the http links in the html code. How to change it?
I also realized that by inspecting the html code of the home page with my browser there is still a lot of http in the code on the page, javascript, etc. So, is this a problem and how do I fix it?
February 4, 2023 at 4:41 pm #1396665Hi,
Thanks for your feedback and the screenshots, the http:// in the page code that I see in the screenshots are for empty links,
Typically the default http:// or https:// is based on your WordPress install, I would check your
WordPress ▸ Settings ▸ General ▸ Site Address
and
WordPress ▸ Settings ▸ General ▸ WordPress Address
to ensure your site is using https://
I tested on my demo site which is https:// and all default links are also https://
Your third screenshot for http://www.w3.org/2000/svg is an XML namespace defined in the Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG), these do not interfere with https:// as it is incorrect to use https in the namespace values. Those values are defined namespace constants. They are not real URLs. (source)
I also see this is a Block element and not a theme element.Best regards,
MikeFebruary 4, 2023 at 11:07 pm #1396690Thanks Mike,
The https setting is ok. So, if I understand this dont cause my performance problem ?
(But why I am not able to remove it ? Each time I modify the html code and save, the modification is not saved.
And why the avia builder don’t want to open in my home page if it’s not the problem ?And, your forgot the previous message and questions:

February 7, 2023 at 1:24 pm #1396977Hi,
Thanks for your patience it looks like your custom font is in the Enfold Theme Options ▸ Import/Export ▸ Custom Font Manager try removing this custom font and see if you still get the 404 error for re.woff2
Your homepage won’t open in the backend because you are getting server errors503 Service Unavailable
this seems to be coming from the AIOSEO plugin that shows this error: AIOSEO relies on the WordPress Rest API and your site might have it disabled
I deactivated the AIOSEO plugin and the backend loaded but there were a few more server 503 errors for “blocks” I believe it is another plugin but I’m not sure, when I switch to the Classic Editor at Enfold Theme Options ▸ Select Your Editor ▸ Use WP Classic Editor so the Block Editor is not used the backend of the homepage opens without errors.
Please check.Best regards,
