Hi
I just updated the Enfold theme and I’ve got widespread appearance issues across the site with backend code appearing on the front end, duplicate content etc. The website is a mess. Can you help urgently?
WP login details etc are in the private content.
Thanks
Kim
May 11, 2018 at 12:50 pm #955245Hi
Just wondering if someone can look at this urgently? We’ve had to put our website on maintenance mode as it is completely messed up with code showing on the front end.
I’ve added WP login details to the private field in the first message. Please help!
Thanks
Kim
May 12, 2018 at 6:23 am #955546Hi Kim,
Thanks for the the login details, though I can’t see anything obviously wrong with your site. I take it that you cleared the cache from both your caching plugins after you updated? If not then that is the first place to start. Since I can’t see anything wrong with your site then a few screenshots of the problems could help us understand your problems.

Thanks for your reply. Yes, I cleared both caching plugins and the browser cache. Here is an example of what I’m seeing. The majority of our blog posts, plus the resources page and others are appearing like this. The ‘video’ slider on the homepage is also just black.

We have no idea what’s going on with it, can you help please?
Thanks

May 13, 2018 at 6:41 am #955940Hi Kim,
I can’t reproduce the issue in your first screenshot on my end using Chrome. In which browser are you seeing that?
I can reproduce the other problem though but I’m not sure what is causing it. I’m not sure why you would need two caching plugins at the same time, and why do you need them active when your page is in under construction mode and you are having problems on the page? To me it feels like asking for trouble, could you deactivate them temporarily please?
Best regards,
RikardMay 13, 2018 at 8:44 am #955990Hi Rikard,
We’re seeing the first issue on Chrome and Edge on the computer after clearing browser caching, and also on Firefox and Chrome on the phone. It’s appearing on all blog posts and many pages although not the home page. Our friend just checked on his iPhone after also clearing caching and he’s seeing exactly the same as us: lots of code appearing in place of headers, images, social share buttons and more. On the latest blog post ‘Jeju Olle Video’ for example, all the code is appearing, then the proper version, then more code.
As for the second issue, the video slider on the home page is appearing as the black screen on Chrome and as a still of the video on Edge:
https://postimg.cc/image/61s895kjf/
On the phone where a photo should appear, it’s also just showing a black screen.
We were running the two caching plugins because it was our understanding that they work well together as long as they are set up correctly. We weren’t experiencing any problems before updating Enfold. When we saw the problem, we put the site on Under Construction because we didn’t want people to see it like that. We didn’t then think to deactivate the caching plugins but have deactivated them now.
Understandably, we are very concerned about this. Our site has been down for two days now and we really need this resolved urgently.
Thanks for your help,
Kim
May 14, 2018 at 5:32 am #956230Hi Kim,
Thanks for the feedback, I’m starting to get a bit confused here though. That is why we like users to post separate threads if they have more than one issue. But let’s try to get to the bottom of your problems anyway:
Front page; is the problem with the Full Screen slider at the very top? If so, I can only see image slides in that? The slider is working fine on my end, but there are no videos added to it. Here’s what I see on my end in Chrome: https://imgur.com/a/WWu6tze
Your post page; I’m still not sure what is causing the shortcode to display, but the custom shortcode (social warfare) or the code block on the page might be causing it, could you try to temporarily remove that to see if that is the problem?
Caching plugins; they are can be great for speed optimisation, but I doubt that you will gain much from having two at the same time? Did you actually test that? It’s off topic but I’m still asking.
Updates in general; to avoid having your production site down like this, I would very much recommend having a staging copy of your site where you can perform updates on to see if anything breaks. That way your production site is safe and we can calmly look at your staging site to find the problems. If you want to be extra safe then I would recommend a process like this.

RikardMay 14, 2018 at 9:29 am #956318Hi Rikard,
Okay, we tried removing the Social Warfare code from one of our posts and the problem of the code appearing went away. We updated the Social Warfare plugin, but were unable to update the pro add-on, getting an update error message. So we deactivated the Social Warfare pro add-on. Now our posts and pages are appearing without all the code. We’ll contact the Social Warfare support team for help with resolving the issues with the plugin.
Regarding the video problem, it’s in the fullwidth easy slider about half way down the home page. It’s appearing black or as a still image on Edge. On the phone there should be a fallback image but it’s black too. Can you help fix this part?
Thanks,
Kim
May 14, 2018 at 2:00 pm #956449Hi Kim,
Thanks for the feedback. I can see the video issue on my end as well using Chrome. There is a problem with locally hosted videos in the version you are running, so that is likely the cause on your site as well. Could you try to host the video on for instance Youtube instead? You will likely see performance improvements as well if you do that. This is another good reason as to why you should have a staging site, we do unfortunately make mistakes as theme developers as well.

RikardMay 14, 2018 at 2:39 pm #956471Hi Rikard,
Thanks again. We don’t really want to host the video on Youtube but just want to keep it as a locally hosted short clip. Is there anything we can do in this version to make it work?
We appreciate the info on the staging site idea, we’ll take that on board for future changes.
Thanks,
Kim
May 16, 2018 at 8:03 am #957366Hi,
A patch for locally hosted video is included on the latest version of the theme, 4.3.2. Please upgrade your installation. Let us know if it helps.

IsmaelMay 17, 2018 at 5:39 am #957912Hi,
Thanks for that. We’ve updated to the latest version of the theme and the video on the fullwidth easy slider is appearing normally. On the mobile however, there should be an image showing in place of the video. Instead it just says ‘object’ twice. Please see the attached screenshot.

Any suggestions?

IsmaelJune 3, 2018 at 4:11 am #966032Hi,
We had a look at the topic you suggested. We’re not clear on whether you’ve changed the code or there’s something we need to do. We are still having the issue.
Can you advise please?
Thanks,
Kim
June 4, 2018 at 9:29 pm #966826Hi,
Ismael does suggest a code edit.
Please look at the info and follow it he also has an explanation and the topic. :)Best regards,
BasilisJune 7, 2018 at 11:14 am #968516Hi,
I took a look at the suggested code edit again. It seems like we need to add
if(this.isMobile)
to the original code in the sildeshow.js file.
It doesn’t say exactly where to put it though. Sorry, we’re just a little confused.
Thanks,
Kim
June 10, 2018 at 11:05 am #970718Hi goingthewholehogg,
The website seems to look fine on my iPhone and in the browsers on a Mac. (screenshots in private)
Could you please clear the cache, check again and get back to us.
Best regards,
VictoriaJune 15, 2018 at 10:06 am #973198Hi,
We cleared the cache again, it’s definitely not that. There’s no problem with what’s shown in the above screenshots. The problem is on the home page, just below Latest Videos. The mobile fallback image for the videos is just appearing as a narrow strip with the title and [object Object].

Having looked at the thread that Ismael suggested, we’re just not clear exactly how to fix this, so would appreciate any help you can give us.
Thanks,

IsmaelJune 25, 2018 at 11:29 pm #977697Same problem here. I reported this issue on May 11. Still no permanent fix for the [object Object] issue?
