Hi
I’m working on a website with French and english version.
But i have problems on all the pages containing a portfolio grid.
My native language is FRENCH so this page works : http://preprod.rc-concept.fr/etude-de-cas/
but when i switch to english (http://preprod.rc-concept.fr/etude-de-cas/?lang=en), i don’t have any content. Can you help me on this please?
March 25, 2014 at 2:24 pm #242726Hi lionel-fidalgo!
Did you translate the portfolio categories for the english language? Please refer to this link on how to translate post categories and taxonomies: http://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/translating-post-categories-and-custom-taxonomies/

March 25, 2014 at 11:43 pm #243043Same problem over here…
Main language is english – portfolio grid works fine…
When i do a german translation of a page with a portfolio grid it only gives me the english portfolio-categories to choose from
(although i translated them into german according to the WPML tutorial mentioned above and added a german portfolio-item to the german translated category too ).Any suggestions…
It also seems that I can’t change anything under WPML -> “translations options” -> “Custom Post” or “Custom taxonomies”
I assume this should set to translate?wpml settings" />

March 26, 2014 at 5:43 am #243132Hi!
Thanks for your input. Do you mind posting the login details here? Another user reported the same issue the other day and the funny thing is we fixed the issue by just updating the portfolio grid element. Please post the login details here and set it as a private reply. We would like to check it.

IsmaelMarch 26, 2014 at 9:38 am #243218hey Ismael,
can do that.
What do you mean by “updating the portfolio grid element”.
I already tried to create a new page (german only) and added a portfolio grid, but it didn’t come up with the german translated categories. It keeps on showing the english categories…

1) I can’t access the server (server authentication fails)
2) Maybe the language cookie is missing. Try to clear your browser cache & delete cookies and then go to the editor page to translate it. See: https://kriesi.at/support/topic/wpml-homepage-blog-post-not-working/#post-230549
If this doesn’t help try to deactivate all plugins except WPML and check if the translated categories pop up. If yes a plugin conflicts with WPML and you need to activate them one by one to find the culprit. I.e. here: https://kriesi.at/support/topic/problems-adding-avia-button-in-spanish/ the “All-in-One Event Calendar by Timely” plugin caused a conflict.

used “web developer”-plugin in firefox to show me the settings for “Cookie ‘_icl_current_language'” and then changed the settings in the cookie from “en” to “de” and it came up with the german translations of the portfolio-categories…
thanks, that saved my day!
March 26, 2014 at 10:32 am #243244ok, actually I have to set the cookie to de, every time I want to edit a german page as it keeps on falling back to en every time…
quite annoying, but I guess this is another topic….March 26, 2014 at 11:10 am #243265So I did a further investigation and found out that an old plugin version of”mailchimp” was causing the issue.
Whenever I deactivated it, the editing language in the cookie would change correctly (depending on the language of the page/post I worked on), but as soon as I activated it, the cookie would keep the setting to english. Although I was editing a german page…
Updating to “MailChimp for WordPress” (v1.5.7) made it work again.
Hope this helps anyone experiencing the same issue…Combination of:
Enfold: v2.6.2
Mailchimp: v1.4.1 (doesn’t work)
MailChimp for WordPress: v1.5.7 (does work)
WPML: v3.1.4- This reply was modified 10 years, 9 months ago by jan_gehrke.
March 26, 2014 at 4:12 pm #243402I found my mistake, it just was a bad utilisation of “duplicate” that create my problem, it works fine now i doesn’t use duplicate “anymore”
But thanks for all the replies.
