There is a Blog Posts Content Element on my website. The Blog posts element is set to grid view. I have added some posts marked “private” to the blog. These private posts are visible in Firefox and IE but Chrome doesn’t show them in the blog posts content element. This spot of the page is just empty. If the the view mode of Blog posts element is set to something else than grid view (single author small preview or single author big preview), the private posts become visible also on Chrome.
Seems that the grid view has some problem in Chrome when a post is set private.
I am using the latest version of Chrome.Any fix for this?

December 9, 2014 at 10:35 pm #365686December 10, 2014 at 9:18 pm #366236Yigit, it is a little bit problematic since the posts are marked private so they would need login information for you to access them.

You can post that here as a private reply (only mods will see it).

please deactivate all plugins, to check which one could cause the issue.
Best regards,
AndyDecember 15, 2014 at 9:30 pm #368584I deactivated all the plugins and no change. The plugins that I have don’t seem to interfere with the private messages. They still don’t show up.
December 16, 2014 at 6:55 am #368796Hi!
We tested this on our installation and the private posts are not visible on the grid layout. The test page that you provided does not exist. Please check. If possible, please deactivate all plugins. We would like to check it.

The test page which I created exists but you have to be logged in to see it. Otherwise you get to the error page. Can you test it again?
I can’t deactivate the plugins from the running setup. I tested that on my testsite and they did not affect the visibility of the private posts.
Thanks!December 18, 2014 at 3:23 am #369843Hey!
I can login to your wordpress, but no as an admin. Do you mind creating us admin access to have a deeper look into the issue?
Post it here as a private message.Best regards,

You have the page status set to private. When you edit the page set it to public if you want it to be viewed for viewers who are not logged in.
Cheers!

I want the page to be private and only visible to the people who are logged in. That part is ok like it is. The problem is that the blog posts in grid view don’t work for some reason on private pages.February 20, 2015 at 9:46 am #399507I think it is a bug because if the view mode of Blog posts element is set to something else than grid view (single author small preview or single author big preview), the private posts become visible. So the blog posts grid view for private posts on private page is buggy.
February 20, 2015 at 7:23 pm #399830Hey!
That specific element your using there was set to two post categories. I removed the categories and it’s working fine now. I’m guessing you do not have any posts assigned to those categories or they have not been published yet.

February 21, 2015 at 1:21 am #399972Hello,
I am sorry to still bother you guys with this. The categories were set correctly and there are posts in the two categories. The post are marked private in these two categories and when set to be shown in the grid view, they don’t show up. The setup is correct but there is a bug. On a private page where thare are private blog posts in the blog posts element, the posts are not shown when it is set in grid view.

The two categories your using, “yllapito-tiedottaa”, and “hallitustiedote”, have no posts assigned to them. You have to assign some of your posts to these categories if you want them to display in the blog posts shortcode.

February 23, 2015 at 6:36 pm #400897Hey! Like I said, there are posts in these two categories. They are marked private. But they are there and they are shown if I select any other view except the grid.

Hmm, that’s weird because it doesn’t say you have any posts for those categories in Dashboard > Posts > Categories. Are you sure you have them translated?
What happens when you deactivate all of your plugins?
I tested this out on my XAMPP setup and the private posts still display in the blog posts shortcode so I’m not really sure what’s going on there.

February 24, 2015 at 10:10 pm #401733Hi
I have translated them and the weird thing is that if I only change from grid view to some other view, the content is visible. So I am sure that there has to be a bug in the grid view. I have deactivated all other plugins but still the same problem. The problem occurs if the page where the blog posts are and the posts themselves are both marked private. As an administrator I can see them with with any other login role they disappear in the grid view. However they are visible in any other view setting for the blog post widget.
BR, LadysailorFebruary 26, 2015 at 5:19 pm #402803Hi!
Hmm, yesterday I did some testing with just the parent theme instead of your child theme but it was still happening. Today I did some more testing but I created a new test page and then activated Enfold instead of your child theme and you can see it’s working now. The posts are displaying but your also getting a lot of error messages from your plugins.
So I’ll assume the problem is from a combination of your plugins and your child theme.
If you activate Enfold and deactivate all of your plugins and view the test page I created you’ll see it’s working fine.

I am assuming you are talking about the test page you have created. The setup on the test page is otherwise correct but the problem doesn’t exist on public pages. Only private. So if you change the setting to private published and then check it out, it doesn’t work. However Admin sees the content but all other roles doen’t.
I have tried a clean install without any plugins and the problem persists.BR,

I’m pretty sure the test page I created is set to private. I also created a new private test post so you can see it in action.
