    Hi Ismael,
    your instructions to set the previous/next buttons at the end of a post (#1217615) instead of the left and right edge of the browser window worked well for the blog posts but this doesn’t let the buttons show on the portfolio pages. I put the code also at the end of the includes/loop-portfolio-single but that had no effect. Thanks for additional help.

    I do not see the file copied to your child theme and edited. Did you make adjustments in the parent theme?

    Hi Victoria,

    yes. For the start I changed the code in the parent theme. I read that files in the folder “includes” can’t be overwritten by a child theme? Now I put the changed footer.php and the folder includes with the loop-index.php in my child theme, if that is better. Sorry, but I’m a beginner.

    Hi Vera,

    If you do changes in the parent theme they will be wiped out with every update. So you need to make them in the files copied to the child theme.

    Please copy this file to the child theme too:
    /includes/loop-portfolio-single.php

    Hi Victoria!

    Actually, it should the next and prev buttons should be there out of the box if they are activated.

    Please deactivate all plugins one by one to check which one is causing this issue and let us know if this solves the problem.

    Hi Victoria,
    unfortunately it doesn’t work. Even with no plugin activated. With the blog everything works fine but not in the portfolios. Running out of time I use now the blog for my purpose. May be you can consider this feature for further updates if more users are interested. ;-)

    Hi Victoria,
    sorry, maybe I put it wrong. The feature prev/next post is there but not – just by clicking – at the end of a page instead of the position centered at the borders of the browser window. Again: in my case your instructions to put this navigation at the end of the page worked fine for the blog but not for portfolio pages. But don’t mind I found an other solution.

    Doesn’t everyone ask for this on portfolio pages?
    I had someone make me custom previous and next buttons on the bottom and now i don’t see them. This has always been a big problem with the portfoilo.
    Vera— how did you solve it??

    Hi kbarranco,

    I solved it by not using it but instead styling the next/previous buttons at both sides of the browser window in a more minimal look. But you are right, many themes come with the buttons at the bottom of the page and it would be nice to have this working not only in blog posts but also in portfolio pages.

    Hi there,

    now I have to come back to the discussed problem in relation with an other website. The issue is: I want to have the previous/next post navigation at the end of the page instead of floating to the left and right side of the browser window. Your instructions ( #1217615 ) to achieve this work fine with blog posts and portfolio posts that are built with the standard editor. But I build the blog as well the portfolio posts with your layout builder. And here the Navigation is not showing. Thank you for help.

    Hi,

    I had a look into your problem.

    On my dev server with Enfold 4.8.1 I’m not able to reproduce the problem. I have demo Enfold 2017 imported.

    You made several changes – I tried to reproduce them on my dev server also – but even with the filter avf_post_nav_settings from your functions.php and adding and removing

    $avia_post_nav = avia_post_nav();

    from template-builder.php and footer.php i can see the post nav.

    There must be something other causing the problems.

    I would suggest you set up a staging site with 4.8.1, import Enfold 2017 demo and check by yourself. Then make your changes and check, until it breaks.

    If nothing breaks then you can copy the files to your other server and check (keep a copy of your other files).

    Hi Vera,

    Glad you got it to work.

    Please update to 4.8.1 as soon as possible – there is a small bug in 4.8 when saving pages that might break layout in frontend adding unwanted br tags.
