    Hello,

I have a portfolio setup that have child categories. I was wondering if there was a way to have a filter setup so it only shows those child subcategories if its parent category is selected. For example lets say I have this setup

    Category 1
    Child Category 1
    Child Category 2

    Category 2

When a user selects category 1 filter below that it then shows Child Category 1 + Child Category 2 and when a user then selects Category 1 Child Category 1 + Child Category 2 are hidden.

    Thanks,

Very similar problem here. Glad you asked. If we can solve your issue I think we can also solve mine.

    Think recipes:
    1. Fish
    2. Meat
    3. Vegetarian

    a. grilled
    b. steamed
    c. pan fried
    d. deep fried
    e. raw

Filter should allow to select 1a (grilled Fish) and then all Portfolio items that are assigned to Fish and grilled should appear in the Portfolio Matrix or Masonry etc.

Yes that would be pretty much perfect. Please let me know if you find any out about that.

    Hi,

Unfortunately, it would require quite some time and customization of the theme to achieve this, so I am sorry to tell you that this is not covered by our support. However, if it’s really important for you to get this done, you can always hire a freelancer to do the job for you :)

    Best regards,

I see many people asking for a better filter function to fetch portfolio items from the database for display. I think it would be worthwhile for your development team to invest in developing it. More important than Gutenberg I think.
The code isn’t difficult for multiple choice filter. It only affects the database querry. But it isn’t a good idea to do it as a customization.

    Hi milano24ore,

Thank you for your input. For now, dev team is focusing on making the theme compatible with Gutenberg as you know. Maybe someday in the future, they’ll get to this issue.

    Best regards,
    Victoria
