::: I’ve just resolved it. I had to highlight and add the new portfolio category in the ‘portfolio page’ site builder element.:::
I have updated to wordpress 4.5.1, and then followed by updating the theme to 3.5.4. Now this fixes the slider display issue on the home page, but I am experiencing issues in the portfolio sorter menu.
I have added a new portfolio category, and have assigned an item to it, everything is published but I am having issue seeing the new category that I have just added. All the old categories are fine, just won’t add a new category to the sorter menu.
Please help, and if any other people are having similar issues?

Glad you got the portfolio issue resolved.
Please make sure you have added portfolio items in new categories as empty categories will not be displayed. If you still have any issue we are happy to check for the problem with new categories not showing in filters would you mind providing a precise link to your site, showing the elements in question? We need to be able to inspect them in order to help :)

It appears to be working fine now, I have had issues in the past when upgrading my wordpress installs with enfold, last time I had to rework the theme, this time is a little less stressful. Great to know support is just around the corner, keep up with the nice work!!
