I purchased Enfold primarily for the portfolio functionality. It is not working, with your Demo data or with my own data. Any idea why?

What happens is that while the primary portfolio page appears, clicks on individual portfolio items results in an error.

    See: [privatelink]

Firefox says: The page isn’t redirecting properly. Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.

IE says: This page can’t be displayed: Make sure the web address [URL] is correct. Look for the page with your search engine. Refresh the page in a few minutes.

Chrome says: The [URL] page isn’t working [URL] redirected you too many times. ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS

Both Firefox and Chrome suggest trying to clear cookies, which I have done, to no beneficial effect.

Enfold 4.0.2 is installed into a fresh, standard WordPress 4.7.3 install. For learning and experimentation purposes it is installed at an otherwise dormant domain, hosted at Bluehost. I imported the Photography Portfolio Demo. I have been making and maintaining WordPress websites for about 10 years.

    Thank You

Additional Info: I have no active plugins, other than four “must use” plugins:
    – Endurance Browser Cache
    – Endurance Page Cache
    – Endurance PHP Edge
    – SSO

    Solved (for now), BUT . . .

By searching your Support Archives for other instances of the error message “ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS” I found a 2012 post about this being caused by a “Custom” setting for Permalinks. When I looked at my site I found, to my surprise, that I had a “custom” setting. I did not create it. It was:

I changed that to “Numeric,” saved it, reloaded the site and the problem had cleared. I can now view Portfolio Items as expected.

This is good, BUT — I did not set up that “CUSTOM” permalink structure. Presumably that was a default of either Enfold or the imported demo data, or both. Obviously that’s a problem if you set, by default, a value that corrupts your functionality.

I also wonder if this problem is only for this particular custom structure, or for any “custom” permalink structure. If the latter, that’s not good, as customizing permalink structure can be a legitimate part of SEO work.

    Hey!

That happens cause of the permalinks ( htaccess rulres ), but we can not know if there are other ( might be, if WordPress does not allow that type of structure ).

The issue might also be with a selection from server, we are sorry you have had to face that and thanks a lot for reporting it as a finding.
Please feel free to let us know if there is anything else we can do to assist you.

    Cheers!
