    I would like to link the portfolio items on my page directly to other pages on the site, instead of unfolding and displaying images. In the portfolio entry I change the “Overwrite Portfolio Link setting” option to “define custom link”, but when I click on the item it does not take me to a new page.

    How do I get the portfolio items to be links?

    Please try to set the “Link Handling” option (of the portfolio grid element) to “Open the entry on a new page”:
