Hi there!
I just installed WPML to a new Enfold site I’m working on and now all the portfolio categories I created before the installation are gone.
However, they still seem to be active somewhere in the background out of sight. Because when I created the categories again from scratch, the permalinks of the ones that disappeared now have a different ending (e.g. “example-de” instead of just “example”). And when I try to rename a permalink to its original name without the automatically added ending, it says it already exists.
Please let me know how I can delete the categories I created before WPML was installed. Thanks!
Best regards,

Thank you for using Enfold.
They are probably save in the english version of the site. Please refer to this link for more info: http://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/translating-post-categories-and-custom-taxonomies/

Thanks for looking into this!
As you can see in the screenshot above, there is a zero in brackets behind English and the other two languages. If I understand you correctly, the old categories should appear there if they were saved as English versions when I installed WPML.
My best guess is that they haven’t been linked to any language at all, which would explain why they still exist somewhere in the background but aren’t listed under any of the four languages you can see in the screenshot. Does that make any sense?

DanielMarch 15, 2015 at 5:16 pm #411711We also have the same issue!
Recreating the categories again does work, but ofcourse this does not solve the initital problem.March 16, 2015 at 5:45 pm #412363Hi!
Have you tried contacting WPML support about this yet? http://wpml.org/forums/forum/english-support/
Send us a WordPress login and we’ll take a look but it seems like a general WPML question so I would contact their support to see what they have to say.
Cheers!
