I would like text/ images to slide in from left or right seconds after page load which give the user options to click through to internal or external links.
I would like the text/images to slide out ofter a specified wait or when a click takes place.
I am also interested to know how this would behave on different device formats.
How can this be done?

Our image shortcode actually has an option for sliding in to view from a certain direction, http://kriesi.at/themes/enfold/shortcodes/animated-image/.
You could add captions and links to the images as well.

Thats not really what I had in mind.
I wanted it to slide in from off-screen and to delay a few seconds before doing so.

It would take a lot of time and code and would have to be considered custom work. It would be best to hire a freelancer to help you out with creating this element or you might be able to find a plugin that does this, https://wordpress.org/plugins/.
