The colors wash out when I upload new images.

I turned off all plugins, and this is still happening. Can you please hurry? I am at a standstill until this is resolved and working on this website tonight, Friday.

I am unsure how to put a screenshot here, so I put the images on the webpage. https://photomagx.com/photography-hot-spot-locations/n-j-photography-hot-spots/ TOWARDS THE BOTTOM YOU WILL SEE TWO SUNRISE PICTURES IN THE UNDER CONSTRUCTION SECTION TOWARDS THE BOTTOM. I put this here for you to see.

    Please help asap.

    THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!!

    Hey extraeyes,
Thank you for the link to your site and adding two images for us to review, I checked these two images in Windows on Chrome, Firefox, & Edge and I don’t see colors that are “washed out”.
I wouldn’t say that these two images look any different from your other images on the page.
I also view the source image links and they look the same, perhaps if you link to the original image that has not been uploaded to WordPress I will see a difference and understand
To add a screenshot please try using an Screenshot service and pasting the image URL in your post.
Were your previous uploaded images showing correctly and this is a new error?

    Best regards,
    Mike

I used the screenshot service as you suggested. kriesi-washed-out-image.png

On my computer, the images are still washed out. This is what I see when I open the page I sent you to.

New error? This is not the first day of the magazine it has 300 plus
pages. So that would be yes. The purple sunset looks exactly the same in the live version as it does in WordPress.

    Thank you for your help.

    Hi,
Thanks for the screenshots, in both examples I see thm as the first image, not the second, so I guess that I’m not seeing them washed out.
I don’t know why you are seeing this on your computer, perhaps you have your night light, blue light filter enabled either on your computer or your browser?

    Best regards,
    Mike

The uploaded images have embedded color profiles? f.e. adobe rgb ?

    #1412465

Could you please explain what you mean? ” I see them as the first image, not the second “What does this mean? The image on the left of each is clearly colorful and the image on the right, after uploading to Enfold, is changed and visible in these screenshots. the two images above are clearly different. If a blue light would change only one image on the entire page?????. Is there someone else who can help? Maybe you see colors differently?? No offense intended. I am at a complete standstill until this is resolved.

    Thank you

    Hi extraeyes,

On your screenshot the difference is obvious with the first image and second.
I think Mike has provided this screenshot on his end:

And, I see exactly the same thing on my end, I tried to view it in chrome, firefox and edge, I don’t see any difference in color between the two images.
Can you try to view it on a different device?

    Best regards,
    Nikko

what is the reason i ask that question on top:

i do not know if wordpress preserves the embedded color-profiles on recalculation the smaller images. but these are used in f.e. masonry. so if you use the non recalculated original image in a slider and have the image in a masonry – there could be a difference between f.e. saturation – depending on your browser or monitor you are looking to them.

    • The majority of typical consumer monitors have a color profile similar to the standard sRGB profile, and can’t display any “better” profiles.
    • Almost all images, especially on the Web, were designed to be displayed in the sRGB color profile. When displayed correctly, they look the same on a high-end “wide gamut” monitor as on an average sRGB monitor.
    • Not all browsers and image viewers support color profiles correctly. While basic support has improved in recent years, there are still cases where it’s buggy or misconfigured, so it can’t be relied upon for anything fancy.

the better control for website images is to save images in the sRGB profile with gamma 2.2, but don’t embed any profile in the image. That’s the most compatible and most efficient solution.

    Nikko,

I view it on my cell phone, and the sandy hook page is all color distorted and in different browsers distorted. It was fine since A photography store featured this article and the color was fine when I created it. https://photomagx.com/portfolio-item/sandy-hook-n-j/ I have checked many other pages, and it appears so far this is the only page affected. I do not want to recreate the page because it is 8 years old, which is good for SEO.

So it is only on new pages, and so far, this one is happening. I only checked about twenty of the hundreds of pages so far.

ALSO- This is odd. The bottom of the page on the Sandy Hook washed out page (linked above) with my private jet photo tour the ad the color is perfect. And now the original page where the South Amboy sunset picture was is back to normal and the new uploads on that page are fine.

And now working on the page I added in some images on the page and the color of the new image boxes are fine. Trying to redo the masonry gallery and the full width easy slider they still are color distorted.

Gueeni, – The magazine is hundreds of pages and only has a problem in certain areas, so all of your suggestions are irrelevant. Color calibration affects every page, not just one.

    Hi,
As I understand your last post, the South Amboy sunset picture is back to normal now, but now the only page with an error is https://photomagx.com/portfolio-item/sandy-hook-n-j/
Which image on that page shows the error? Can you post a screenshot of what you see and how it is suppose to look so we can check? I didn’t find any of the previous images on that page.

    Best regards,
    Mike

https://img.savvyify.com/image/EROO – HOW THEY LOOK ON THE LIVE WEBSITE BLUEISH
https://img.savvyify.com/image/EuYj – HOW THEY LOOK IN THE MEDIA GALLERY CORRECT COLOR.

You can see the blue gallery at the bottom of the page, as I mentioned. Also earlier I put up two images in the image box on the top of the page with the correct color, so you can see the difference went you went in.. So the gallery and the full with easy slider are having color distortion problems. I removed them and did them over, and the same thing is happening.

I don’t understand what you mean by not seeing any images that I previously posted on that page. ??? I advised you this is an additional problem so that means it would be different images.

You already see the purple images are different colors above.

    Hi,
Thanks for the screenshots, but I’m not seeing the purple color to the images like you are, they look like your media gallery images.
    https://img.savvyify.com/image/Ed2z
I don’t know why you are seeing this and I’m not.

Can you please get a senior representative to help me? On my desktop, I can clearly see the difference. On the cell phone, the side-by-side comparison is harder to see. Can someone investigate this?

I have so far five people on social media checked their computers and CLEARLY SEE THE DIFFERENCE TRUST ME; THE PICTURES ARE SUPPOSED TO BE BRIGHTER THAN THEY ARE, NOT WITH A BLUE WASH OUT IN THE FULL WITDTH EASY SLIDER. I have said it is happening on all three of my browsers and I can see the difference on the cell phone.
Please ask someone else to solve this problem.

    Apologies, I am losing patience!

    Hi,
Thanks for your patience, I can see a difference with your new images, thanks for adding them. I couldn’t see the difference with the other ones, but I believe this is because the color change doesn’t occur on all of the image sizes. I downloaded one your new original images and created a test page on my site with all 9 image sizes here you will see that only the
    Square Accordion
    Square
    Featured Thin
    Portfolio
    Gallery
    Entry with Sidebar
    Entry without Sidebar

show the color change, and these don’t:
    original – Full Size
    medium
    large

I then tested with another image from my site here and was not able to reproduce and color changes.
Thinking back to what Guenni007 said about color profiles I tested your image online and it’s ProfileDescription is ProPhoto RGB with a ColorTransform of YCbCr.
When I tested my image it has no ColorTransform is and the ProfileDescription is c2
While I’m not a photographer is seems that perhaps this ColorTransform or something similar may be something that WordPress can’t handle when resizing the images.
I found thread from 2015 that seems to be the same:
images with the Adobe RGB Color Space. … this results in completely oversaturated colors.
    The solution seems to be:

The problem is inside your Photoshop setting. Try Preferences -> Color Setting -> Color Policies and enable the cklickbox at Profile Mismatches and Missing Profiles

    Give this a try.
or use a Image Magick plugin like ImageMagick Engine
Hopefully you will find this helpful.

    Best regards,
    Mike

Thank you!! I entered my Lightroom and found that the color profile had accidentally changed to ProPhoto RGB. I never use that, but apparently did for recent images. Here is the thing. They worked fine without issue until recently. It’s possible on the last update, it stopped working, and I didn’t notice. Again I have hundreds of pages. I will try the plug-in now and then work on changing out the images. Luckily we caught this before I wrote too many articles.
Thank you!! I will do this now and let you know if the plug-in works!!!

    UPDATE:
It’s Untested with my version of WordPress. I never use these untested ones. Never mind. It wants to alter all of the images, and I cannot take that chance. I will replace all the new images in the new articles with the sRGB version.

Thank you for helping me get to the bottom of this… any idea why it suddenly started conflicting?? Like I said days ago, the article was fine and blasted out to many people when I first created it, and it conflicted at some point after that in the past few weeks or so. It would be much easier to see why it happened that I changed all the images, but I will change them. thank you again.

    Hi,
I would say that it is safe to test, it was Tested up to: 6.1.3 and it has Active installations: 60,000+

    Best regards,

    #1412821

Oh, that was quick. I just updated my response.

    #1412848

    Hi,
I don’t believe that this is a something new, as the post I found is from 2015, the issue points to the PHP GD Library used by WordPress and not from Enfold. As my example post shows not every image size is affected and as you say at some point your color profile in Lightroom had accidentally changed to ProPhoto RGB, which you said that you don’t normally use.
Anyways, I’m glad that we found the issue and hopefully the Image Magick plugin helps you, but if it doesn’t at least you know how to fix in your lightroom.
Unless there is anything else we can assist with on this issue, shall we close this then?

    Best regards,
    Mike

    #1412946

I thought someone mentioned that it might be related to embedded colour profiles ;)
Anyway – It’s good that Mike found this error though.
