Hello there,
To begin with to say well done on the Enfold theme. We have been using it for what must be about 18-24 months and have had no issues. Great.
Now to my question. We have been informed by our hosting company (1and1) that they will shortly be no longer supporting PHP v5.4. This is the version that is currently in use with the latest version of WordPress and the Enfold theme.
Can you advise if there would be any issues / problems if I were to upgrade the version of PHP to say PHP 5.5, PHP 5.6 or PHP 7.0?
I really do not want to break anything on our site and so would appreciate your advice?
Thank you in advance,
Regards
Jamesy
Hey James!
Please make sure that you are using Enfold 3.5.1 – http://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/updating-your-theme-files/ and then you can feel free to update PHP version to 7
You can refer to this post – http://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/move-from-a-local-installation-to-a-live-server/ and create a testing environment and make the changes there firstly to be on the safe side

Yigit
Thank you for your very quick response.
We are using the latest versions of both WordPress and Enfold.
OK. I will take a backup and try the testing environment.
Will let you know how it goes.

Hello again,
Apologies for not getting back to you before now. Been rather busy.
Anyway, just to let you know that the PHP version upgrade from 5.4 to 5.5 went well, no issue to report, this was using 1and1.co.uk for our hosting.
Regards.
