    Hi

My hosting partner asks to update to php 8.1. My page is now php 7.4.BUT it does not show when I switch to PHP8.1 anymore on browser.

with the same plugins on other enfold sites, I do not have a problem with my hosting / changing from 7.4 to 8.1php

    Hey Dominic,

    Thank you for the inquiry.

Did you use the FORCE_SSL_ADMIN constant in the wp-config.php file? Please try to remove it temporarily before upgrading PHP to 8.1.

    Best regards,
    Ismael

    Hi Ismael

thanks for fast reply: No, I did not. See screenshot on private content.
Does it have to do with the fact that I use Enfold Child? As my provider will stop PHP 7.4 in the near future; i would be sure to build this website on a good basis :-)
    Any other suggestiions?
    regards

    Hi,

We can’t say that for sure, but the warning that you posted above are not referring to any theme files, only the wp-config.php file which is a default WordPress file. That is why Ismael asked that question earlier. You might want to consider copying the site to a staging area and update the PHP version there first, so that we can see the actual problem. What you posted above are only warnings, and should not cause your site to go down or not to be visible.

    Best regards,
    Rikard

    Hi

    thanks.

I’don’t know what it means “staging area” and how I should do it. It this is “Wartungsmodus” in german, I can manage this as the site ist not yet ready.
the page http://www.jmbuettner.ch ist the only of 5 Enfold sites that does not work on php 8.1
    should I switch to “wartungsmodus”?

    regards
    Dominic

    Hi,

Staging area means that you copy your current site to a space which is not connected to you live site, which means that you can experiment with it. If you want to update the live site then please go ahead and do so, so that we can see the actual problem.

    Best regards,
    Rikard

    Hi

thanks. I’m not able to copy the page and so on. This is why I use Enfold, not having to deal with this knowledge. As the site must be connected to the host (hostpoint.ch) it has to happen on the real site.

Thank you beeing so kind to find the problem.

Maybe it would be better to switch to some one with german language skills? As I wrote: switching form php 7.4 to 8.1 is not working only for this site: http://www.jmbuettner.ch (log in see above). All others work fine: http://www.hammerstrasse.ch / http://www.familienfoto.ch / http://www.constitutio.info and so on (all of these Enfold theme.
For background info: see the treat I had for the same site a view weeks ago: https://kriesi.at/support/topic/blog-eintrage-lange-unlimitiert-einsatz-von-php-einstellungen/#post-1439384

    Hi,

Thanks for the update. We can’t really help you out much further if we can’t see server error logs or the actual problem on a live site. Did you try general debugging like deactivating plugin and removing any custom code you might have added after the PHP update?

    Best regards,
    Rikard

    Hi

unfortunatelly the problem ist still unsolved. It seam, that Child theme enfold ist not working with php 8.1 as all my other Enfold sites works fine with php 8.1.
Could you please look again at the latest error log? please download the txt file (link see private content)

I did everything: empty the own settings on Childtheme /theme function/functions.php
    I deactivated all plugins
    wordpress updated
    childtheme updated

still: the page ist not working on 8.1php
    regards

    Hi,

Thanks for that. All the fatal errors in the log is referring to the wp-config.php file of your installation and the FORCE_SSL_ADMIN constant which Ismael referred to earlier. Please check that file and constant, or share FTP login details with us in private.

    Best regards,
    Rikard

    Hi,

Thanks for that. This was in your wp-config.php file:

    define(‚FORCE_SSL_ADMIN‘, true);

The quotes were wrong, so I fixed that for you. Please check if things work better now.
