“some lightbox script improvements to easier activate a external lightbox”How does this work?
How can I use photoswipe?November 8, 2013 at 12:24 am #185900Hey!
Have you tried with the WP Photoswipe plugin: http://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-photoswipe/
Best regards,
JosueNovember 9, 2013 at 8:01 pm #186510I just tried that plugin and the images in my portfolio grid disappeared, the thumbnails on my galleries stopped animating in, and the lightboxes stopped working at all.
The lightbox pretty much sucks on the iPhone — the formatting is funky, and having to click on those little arrows is really cumbersome. I would LOVE it if there were some improvement on this. Please let me know if you have any ideas.
November 12, 2013 at 2:30 pm #187243Hey!
I’m not familiar with the photoswipe lightbox plugin and I don’t know how or if you can use it with the theme but personally I also don’t like the prettyphoto lightbox script and I replaced it with fancybox on my websites. You can use my child theme: http://www.mediafire.com/?05ho02ecut516hu as a starting point which deactivates the standard lightbox and loads the fancybox script instead.

Glad Peter provided a child theme. I won’t be able to check it on an IOS mobile device. Let’s wait for Yigit and Devin’s response. Anyway, the lightbox plugin works well on a desktop.

YigitDecember 11, 2013 at 5:34 am #198829I finally got around to trying this, and, while it does have some advantages, it’s not quite enough of an improvement for me to switch. It’s still not swipable, the images are smaller than with the theme’s plugin, and, even though it has the significant advantage of providing full-screen images, if you “pinch” or “spread” those full-size images on the iPhone, and then close them, the page layout get’s tweaked to the point of having to reload the page.
Also, correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t much like the thumbnails in fancybox, although they’re somewhat useful. Finally, it seems the usual fancybox settings (usually found in Settings > Media, I think), don’t seem to be available in this setup.
PrettyPhoto looks pretty good on the iPad, which is what most of my client’s clients will likely be viewing on, so I guess I’ll stick with that, for now. But thanks so much Dude/Peter, for passing this along!
Let me know if you guys find anything swipable and or spreadable! ;)
