Hi – I had my old WP.com blog posts imported to WP.org and am now in your demo to make changes. You’ve linked my blog posts to your blog tab (thank you), but if I go into a post, all my galleries are tiny and squished to one side. If I enter the edit mode, I’ve tried changing the gallery style to every of the 12 sizes/styles on the list, but when I hit Preview Page, nothing changes. Can you help? I’ve included the links below in private section.

YigitHi – I had wanted to do that, but I don’t see any way here to attach a screen shot. This is how I had them on my old WP.com site ( http://dominiquehurleyart.wordpress.com/2015/03/23/intuitive-sparks-aanl-painting-workshop/ ) I mostly used Tiled Mosaic Gallery style in TwentyEleven. I know this may not be possible here, but I’d like to edit them somehow.
In this one, even if I am in the blog edit page and click to edit the gallery, nothing changes if I change the styles/sizes. When the Bluehost transfer team first transferred the images, they weren’t even linked to anything, so the lightbox came up blank. Now they link, but they don’t display well. Thanks.

You could use the masonry gallery element for your gallery maybe?

RikardThe problem is I have almost 300 posts with several galleries in each that were imported from WP.com – causing all the galleries to become squished small thumbnails on the left. Right now, they’re not showing properly AND I can’t change how they look. Yesterday, in the default editor, I tried to edit a gallery (see previous posts) to all the different sizes, and nothing changed – it didn’t matter which size I chose, the gallery stayed fixed, unchangeable.
Today, I realized that there is the Avia Advanced editor when you mentioned the Masonry gallery- when I clicked on it inside an existing post, all the photos became html text (see screen shot). When I went back to Default editor, my entire post disappeared from the editor. (see screenshot). So I closed the window. This is worse than yesterday.

I’m trying to troubleshoot on my own and had a thought: I wrote one new blog post since importing WP.com. This is the one here. I wanted to see if this was a problem with only the imported posts or new ones too.

So these are freshly uploaded photos and you’ll see the two at the bottom, in a gallery, are still showing up as thumbnails, even if I selected “Full Size” in the content editor.Again, If I select the Advance Layout Editor, the gallery shows up as code, so I don’t know how to work that. If I select Default Editor again to get out, everything in the content box disappears. I need to close the browser tab to get out.

The theme modified the default WordPress gallery so the default wp gallery shortcode will not work. I’m afraid you will have to recreate each post gallery by replacing it with the theme’s gallery shortcode. You can find it on the Shortcode Wand > Media Element > Gallery. Anyway, maybe you can try this code in the Quick CSS field:
#top .gallery .gallery-item { width: auto; height: auto; }I can’t promise that it will work.

1) the CSS code only changed the 2 photos in my new blog post created here, not the 300 imported – but it made them big and I still couldn’t change them using the editor. They stayed too big no matter what size I chose.
2) I found the shortcode wand – new tool for me. I was in Edit Post. I clicked on a gallery to make it active. If I click on the edit pencil, I couldn’t see the shortcode wand. So I only clicked so there would be a grey box around all the photos that were there. I then clicked on shortcode wand and selected Media Element -> Masonry Gallery (which would more closely resemble my previous website). This is what it looked like in the editor – code instead of thumbnails and under the next paragraph, a “No Content” image.

Did I do something wrong?
I now need to learn to revert to an older version to get back those 20 or so photos (I think I remember reading we can do that?) and how to fix my galleries. If I have to go into all 300 posts to fix over 700 galleries, I will, but it’s not working.

After you insert the Masonry Gallery, did you add the gallery images? Click Add/Edit Gallery to add or edit images. It will not automatically add the images attached to the post.

IsmaelHi – no to your last question. I had clicked in an existing gallery and then Edit.
Re-creating the 700+ galleries in 300 posts with thousands of images in my libraries would take months. I’m hoping for an easier solution. It doesn’t have to be a masonry gallery for my existing posts in this new Enfold site. It just has to look good.
What we’re trying to do here is fix a problem that occurred after transferring my blog from WP.com to WP.org.
1) The photos are not easy to see if you look at the links earlier in the thread (tiny thumbnails squished and to the side).
2) The galleries are not responsive to any changes made in the content editor.
3) I understand that you’re saying I can’t use the Advance Layout Editor for existing content
4) Because I tried, it added 222 pages of masonry galleries to the blog post http://50.87.248.159/~dominjd2/2015/03/23/intuitive-sparks-aanl-painting-workshop/
5) Now if I go back into Edit Page, the original photos are gone and there’s code instead like in the screen shot shown. This is a recent post, so I could go back in and re-create a gallery. Not a big deal.
6) But we’re not addressing the main problem. None of my galleries in about 300 posts are responsive to edit changes. They don’t look acceptable (can’t see pictures – squished in tiny column to the left). This is even true in the post I added on the site after I moved it to Enfold – the 2 small photos at the bottom are in a gallery set to “Large” http://50.87.248.159/~dominjd2/2015/04/09/new-painting-ive-got-your-back/Can we not use the regular editor in Enfold? Do we always have to select “Advanced Layout Editor” when designing blog posts? Why is my new blog post having the same issues as all the old ones? Is that a clue?
Note: I have also sent an email about this issue to the Website Transfer Team, although they keep telling me they’re not developers, so I don’t know if they’ll be able to do something.
This is the issue keeping me from making this website live. I’d really appreciate if you could go into my site and take a deeper look. You have access info in my first message from April 9. Thanks so much.

According to other forums, the gallery type feature was disabled after WP version 3.5. Surprisingly, we didn’t notice that since we are used to working with the default theme features. In order to fix it, you need to install the Jetpack plugin: https://wordpress.org/support/topic/gallery-settings-type-option-not-appearing
This part is important:
Some parts of Jetpack cannot work locally ( http://wordpress.stackexchange.com/questions/42352/jetpack-running-locally ), and also some part’s cannot work if you do not have wordpress.com account connected to your Jetpack installation. So you will probably need to install Jetpack on some real domain and during installation it will ask you to connect to your wordpress.com account.
If it doesn’t work, then you will need to recreate the post galleries from scratch which I agree is a ton of work. Let’s hope the jetpack plugin works.

Jetpack was already installed by my Bluehost Website Transfer Team, but I had to activate it after my DNS was pointed and my site became my domain name (not sure about the techy language there). I went into settings and they had a checkbox for Tiled Gallery. Yay! They’re looking fine now. No more 250px columns of tiny thumbnails.It’s added a whole bunch of other things too – like another set of Share this and Related – like at the bottom of http://dominiquehurley.com/studio-sneak-peek-snowflakes/ And camera settings in the lightbox, which isn’t very professional looking. I hope Jetpack is compatible with Enfold and hasn’t broken anything.
I’ll spend the day looking through the site and Jetpack to learn about it.
Question 1- the second link you gave me about “Local “… I don’t know what that means. Is there a problem that’s hiding or should I forget about it if the galleries are showing up nicely?
Question2: I’m not sure what to link the galleries to: Attachment Page, Media File or None ? What’s the difference?

1.) I think “local” refers to a local WordPress installation. So you should be fine I think.
2.) You can link to whatever you want. You can link to a lightbox (so the image gets shown bigger), to another website or whatever you choose.

This is for galleries, so if anyone clicks on one, it automatically goes to a lightbox. see

Media File – will open a lightbox or open the actual image url.
None – will remove image link.
