Hello, I have some problems with settings custom link for permalinks.
If I’m setting this, there still 404 error.So what can I do? Thx for the anwer. Susanne

Can you give us a step by step instruction on how we can reproduce this error?
Maybe you can also give us temporary admin access? so we can try to check on it further.

If I’m going to settings -> permalinks -> Custom permalinks -> par example: /%category%/
I’m getting an 404 error
So I’ll have to take simple permalinks -> isn’t so nice because I have to do with seo :-)

I see, can you try to switch to a default wordpress theme like Twenty Nineteen or Twenty Seventeen and check if the issue still persists or if the permalinks are working?
I think this isn’t a theme issue but probably permission issue on the .htaccess file. Can you try to set your .htaccess file to 755?Best regards,

still some permission ? Also I’ve done 755.
