I have several PDF files in my Media folders, and have hyperlinks to them on several of the images on my pages. After the last WordPress update, the links no longer work. The URL when I try to open the PDF has a “<a%20href=” in front of the file path and the tech at the hosting organization thought that might be causing the problem. I checked with my host provider and there are no permission issues on the media folders. What I get is a page with the following message:

Edit your page via the Text tab as opposed to Visual
Remove the ‘20%’ and save
Reload and view the page in a browserOctober 31, 2017 at 11:44 pm #871027I can’t edit it in text mode, it is an Image on the page and the data appears to be completely controlled by the Image widget that pops up when I go into edit mode. It offers tabs for Image Settings, Link Settings, Caption and Animation. On the Link Settings tab is the field to enter the URL, and it is clean – http://pointarenalighthouse.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/PAS_Announcement-2a.pdf
November 1, 2017 at 1:12 am #871035This is what the browser is trying to interpret:
'<a href='<a href="http://pointarenalighthouse.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/PAS_Announcement-2a.pdf" class="autohyperlink">pointarenalighthouse.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/PAS_Announcement-2a.pdf</a>'
Did you put html within the link?
Can you just place the URL of:
http://pointarenalighthouse.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/PAS_Announcement-2a.pdf
…in that link box under Set Manually- This reply was modified 7 years, 1 month ago by aribann.
November 1, 2017 at 1:15 am #871038That is all that I put into the URL field of the Image, Link Settings page within WordPress. Something is inserting those other characters and I don’t know what is doing it.
November 1, 2017 at 1:17 am #871039Sorry just noticed you said it is clean

Great! I’m glad you were able to get this taken care of. Did you need additional help, or shall I close this topic.
Best regards,

What plugin were you using that caused this?November 2, 2017 at 12:25 am #871463Doesn’t look like a plug in, it was my browser cache. Cleared it and the PDFs showed back up. Jordan, this can be closed and thanks for the help, aribann.
