I am unable to use password protect on my site. I have tried deactivating plugins, I have tried the “Hide My Site” widget and nothing works. with “password protect” I enter the password and nothing happens. With Hide My Site, I have to enter a password for every page. I need to have all users enter a password on the homepage and then all content is available. Please help.

    Hi jasonlefor!

I logged in and viewed your homepage but it’s asking me for a password. Are you sure you set the correct password? Try setting it to just “test” and try it again.

Also be sure to deactivate all plugins and clear your browser cache.

    Cheers!

Thanks Elliot for getting back to me so quickly. I have one password on the homepage… it is a password I set in the upper right hand corner of the home page template as the owner of the site wanted me to have it even though you can still view the other links. the home page password is Arbonne. all plugins have been disabled. Thanks again

    Hi!

I typed the password in and the homepage is displayed for me so it appears to be working. Not really sure what to tell you here. Are you sure caps lock is not on?

Try testing in a different browser to see what happens.

    Regards,
    Elliott

Hi Elliot, I misunderstood you. I deactivated all plugins and applied the password on the home page, which works fine, but I would have to do that to every page in order to protect the site. I just turned on the widget called password protect and users are unable to get in now. Please let me know what you find out. Arbonne is the password. Thanks

    Hey!

If your wanting to add a password to your whole site then try this plugin out, https://wordpress.org/plugins/hide-my-site/.
