Hi, I have some longer excerpt texts that I’m using to display a summary below portfolio posts in the Portfolio Grid element, and I want to maintain line breaks where I have added them in the excerpt text box.
How can I maintain these paragraph breaks in the excerpt, so that the text is not converted into a continuous string?
Thanks, Richard
October 21, 2015 at 8:51 pm #522517Hi Richard!
You’ll need to create custom excerpts. When editing each portfolio post scroll down until you see the custom excerpt field. If you do not see it then click on the “Screen Options” link in the top right hand corner of your screen and check it to display.
Cheers!

Yes, I’m already using excerpts. But my question was how to get the paragraph breaks I am adding in the excerpt box to display in the excerpts below my posts in the portfolio grid.
The excerpt are currently stripping out any formatting I add to text in this box (see link below)

You can add two br tags where each line break should appear like the example below:

I have a client who already has post excerpts in place in all their posts by using the ‘More’ element in the rich text editor.
To edit every existing post would be laborious and unacceptable to them.
Is there a way (other than Dake has described above) to preserve the original html? Every tutorial I follow doesn’t seem to do anything for me, such as these two:http://bacsoftwareconsulting.com/blog/index.php/wordpress-cat/how-to-preserve-html-tags-in-wordpress-excerpt-without-a-plugin/
I understand this is a WordPress issue, but I’m wondering if Enfold also has something in place, since I can’t get other suggested functions to work. p.s. I’m a contractor to my client, and they are not keen to hand out FTP access to their site. So I am working on a local dev version (sorry, no access there either).
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
cheers

Unfortunately it would require quite some time and customization of the theme to achieve this, so I am sorry to tell you that this is not covered by our support. However if its really important for you to get this done, you can always hire a freelancer to do the job for you :)
Best regards,
