Hi there,
Testing our site on Google Page Speed and GT Metrix is showing up some worrying speed issues (45/100 on Google), mainly down to the use of big images. We are using fairly large images in the sliders (2000 px wide) because we found that if we set them to 1500 (as suggested in other threads) they were becoming very pixellated on larger screens. Same argument for the images in the “Product Ranges” section.
Is there anything else we can be doing to improve our Page Speed scores, or workarounds to allow us to display crisp images on big screens?
I’ve also worked on W3 Total Cache to cache various things, and also to minify, but that doesn’t appear to have made much difference.
Many thanks,
Richard
Hi richardelectrix!
I’m not sure why you’re getting those results on google page speed.
I’m not experiencing any loading issue on multiple browser and multiple connections.
Have you or your clients personally experienced any significantly slow loading?
As for the test results – outside of using a caching tool and optimizing your image sizes – please try testing your site with and without plugins enabled to see if there is a conflict or any poorly optimized code causing the low results.
Best regards,
Dake
