    GTmetrix is giving my site, http://www.ofas.org.uk scores in the 80s and 90s depending on the page, but the overall load time is slow. Part of the problem seems to be that everything has to be loaded fully on the page before anything is displayed which gives a really odd “lag” impression when you click on a link.

    The major time issue seems to be caused by admin-ajax.php.

    Are either of these things related to the theme?

    I’m not noting any “lag” to be honest, your website is loading quite fast actually. I’ve also ran a test with the tool you mention – http://screencast.com/t/7oMwePBMo

    That’s good to hear, and as you see the metrics are great. What if you load the Directory page?

    Hey!

    The directory page was slower to load, most likely due to a lot more requests, 140 vs 34, and almost double the content size.
