Two issues. I cannot load or edit pages anymore except my newest page. And when I go to theme options to try to select classic editor as has been suggested in other posts or make sure my Enfold theme is up to date, theme options do not work so I cannot see any of the option pages other than the first one. I am basically stuck. Any help would be appreciated.
August 23, 2020 at 5:53 pm #1240172Hey John,
Well, you’re running a very old version of Enfold, it is not built to work with WordPress 5+. So you need to update the theme and you need to update php to php7.2 or higher and php7.2 is a minimum requirement for WordPress now.
The latest version of Enfold is 4.7.6.3.
If you need further assistance please let us know.
Best regards,

August 27, 2020 at 5:37 pm #1241278Victoria, as theme options do not work in WP I cannot update my Enfold. I am not a professional developer and self maintain my site so if my questions sound stupid that is why. How do I update if I cannot do so through theme options? Thank you so much for your help. I will reach out to the host and have them update the PHP on my site.
August 27, 2020 at 6:41 pm #1241292I ftp’ed the files over. Let’s see if that does it.

I renamed the Enfold folder to Enfold-BU and then reloaded a completely clean copy of Enfold to my WP site. The site FTP has been updated to the current version and WP is 5.5. My host is running my site on Twenty Twenty so that I have a presence. Horrible, but a presence. I tried switching back to Enfold and as soon as I did WP crashed and my site went down. I am in the middle of the launch of a new book and this is not at all a good time to have site problems. I really could use some help here. Crickets. Please let me know what is going on.

Please refrain from replying to your own thread because it gets pushed back to the end of the queue and moderators won’t be able to provide a response immediately. Please be patient while we go through the rest of the queue. Thank you for your understanding.

Hello John,
The Enfold theme is back and all the plugins are reactivated except for the classic editor plugin. I’ve left it on your dashboard but I’ve disabled it. Can you take a look at the site for me?

A bit funky. Footer is not loading correctly. Strange text on home page in upper left. Side bar not loading correctly. Social media links gone. Thoughts?August 28, 2020 at 5:29 pm #1241657Had to re-add in widgets so all is looking good except for the weird text showing up on the upper left of my home page. Not sure where this is coming from. Enfold has added into its framework classic editor so I do not need to add. I think all is well. I can play with it now to add functionality but at least you brought it up and it looks good. Thank you so much.
Victoria looks like the classic editor was a major factor in the Enfold/WP interface. Once that was eliminated, Enfold loaded and WP did not crash. The only thing that you might be able to help with would be to help me figure out where the weird text in the upper left of my home page is coming from. Otherwise, I just have to get to know the new Enfold and take advantage of all of its attributes. Thank you so much for your help. Love the theme and so glad that I made the switch from my last Kriesi theme to Enfold.

August 30, 2020 at 3:07 pm #1241941Hi wetherhaven,
I see that you have Enfold updated and the website is back up and running. That’s great.
https://share.getcloudapp.com/7KuLjxle I’ve never seen the Advanced Layout Builder like this.
I see that icons do not show up and shortcodes are shown too.
Can you please disable all plugins and let us check?
Best regards,

August 31, 2020 at 2:51 am #1242041Victoria, my site looks awful. Would you do me a favor and let me know possible timing on getting my Enfold code debugged so that my site works again? The uncertainty is unnerving. On the other hand, I do appreciate that you are taking the initiative to fix my site without me asking. That is very kind of you. I have been a loyal Kreisi user for years and having a horrible looking site is not at all good advertising for either of us. Thank you so much. It is about 6 pm pacific time right now. John
September 1, 2020 at 9:04 am #1242432Hi John,
Sorry for the problem. I’ve checked your site and the problem might be a http/https problem. Your front end is using https, but the site URL is using http. Could you try changing the site URL and address to https on the page in private to see if that helps? If not then we can try to upload the theme again for you via FTP, if you want us to do that then please verify that you have backups of the site, in case something should go wrong.

RikardSeptember 1, 2020 at 3:14 pm #1242532Rikard, thank you. I changed the site to https and reactivated my plugins. Here is what I experienced:
Activating the plugins just made the side appearance correct. Did not cause or change the problems.
The problems include the following:
* On the home landing page, this text is showing up in the upper left-hand corner: “Paste your Google Webmaster Tools verification code here”
* On the menu bar, search is replaced with a box with a question mark.
* On the home landing page, when a hotlink is selected, a box with a question mark.apprars
* On all blog entries, a box with a question mark. appears to the left
* On the return to top of the page on blog, a box with a question mark.apprarsSeems to be a pervasive problem. I would welcome a reload. I do not know what else to do.
September 2, 2020 at 5:51 am #1242681I loaded wp 5.5 on another site and enfold and enfold has the same error with the question mark coming up. Seems to be a problem with enfold not my site and not my second site. Both are https. The new site has no plug-ins so that cannot be the cause.
September 3, 2020 at 6:30 am #1242998Hi,
Thanks for the update. I uploaded and activated a fresh version of the theme and that fixe the missing images in the layout builder.
The verification text on the front end is caused by this plugin: Verify Google Webmaster Tools. I deactivated it and the text disappeared after that.
I can’t see any missing icons on my end, please check your site in an incognito or private browser window to verify that you see the same thing on your end.

The update I applied to your site is available on Themeforest, if you want to have a go yourself. If not then please let us know where your other site is located on the server, and post WordPress login details in private as well, and we’ll update it for you.
Best regards,
RikardSeptember 6, 2020 at 9:50 pm #1243783Rikard, thank you. I loaded the newest version of Enfold from Themeforest and it did not solve the problem of the ? marks. Whatever you did solved this problem for johninmandialogue. The version of Enfold on Themeforest does not solve this problem. As the version I have available is not solving the problem, I would appreciate it if you were to load the version of Enfold that you have.
Where johninmandialogue is in the folder public_html, this instance is in the folder wetherhaven.com. Same root. Same login. Thank you for solving this problem.
So the question I have for you is, “if the version of Enfold you loaded to solve the problem is the same as it is on Themeforest, how did it solve the problem as I have the version from Themeforest and it did not solve the problem?” This does not make sense to me unless you actually have a bug fix that is not yet in that release. Anyway, thank you so much for your help.

September 8, 2020 at 7:26 am #1244183Hi John,
Thanks for the update, I see the site in FTP, but the WordPress login details are not working. Please post them in private as well. I’m not sure why the icons are not loading. The version I uploaded to your first site is exactly the same as the one you are running on this site.
Best regards,
RikardSeptember 8, 2020 at 4:38 pm #1244335Rikard, how interesting. When you reloaded my other site, the icons started working. How strange. Here is the WP login to my wetherhaven site. My wetherhaven site is behaving exactly the same as my other site before you reloaded it. So although you loaded exactly the same code as is on Themeforest, you did something to fix the missing icons. Thank you for whatever that was. Maybe your magic will work on my other site.
September 10, 2020 at 4:57 am #1244729Hi John,
Thanks for that. I’ve uploaded a fresh version of the theme and activated it, your icons are showing fine after that. If you don’t see any difference then please try loading the site in an incognito or private window in your browser, to avoid any local caching.
Best regards,
RikardSeptember 10, 2020 at 4:41 pm #1244965Rikard, that did the trick. Kriesi should update the Enfold on Themeforest to match what you installed. Your version in both installs solved the problem that the Themeforest version left unsolved. Thank you so much for your efforts. Now you can get back to more pressing needs. The best. John
