I have noticed that if I test a modul on a page and delete it later, the scripts and the CSS of the module are still loaded. In the config is specified “load only used modules”. Is there a way to reset this and where does Enfold remember/store the used modules? For performance reasons this is of course very bad, and I would like to correct it without always selecting the modules manually.

    Hey conflock,
Sorry for the late reply, are you also using Enfold Theme Options > Performance > JS & CSS file merging and compression or any caching plugins?
If either of these are used you will need to clear these when you change the page elements used. Even though the theme knows to not load an element, it is not enough to trigger a rebuild of the merged or minified files.
To force a rebuild of the theme merged files, disable the merged option and at the bottom of the page you will find: Enfold Theme Options > Performance > Delete old CSS and JS files, enable this and save the theme settings, then reload your frontend, then go back and enable the settings for merging again.
For your caching plugins, they should have a “clear” option.
I recommend only using caching & minifying after your site is finished, in this case use you may only need to do this occasionally, after page rebuilds.

    Best regards,
    Mike

Thanks for the answer but this doesn’t solve the problem. Even if I have all Enfold CSS and JS compression options deactivated, no third party cache plugin installed the site still loads tons of unused Enfold module CSS and JS. Even if they are not used in the entire site. Of course, I tried the “delete” old files option too. This happens not only on one website bit on all our Enfold websites. I think the “only load used module CSS and JS” option doesn’t wor at all.

    Hi,
Sorry for the late reply, I tested this on a clean install and with CSS and JS compression options deactivated, and “Load only used elements (recommended)” activated, vs “Always load all elements”, and I see quite a difference in element related files.
Do you mean that you don’t see any difference? Are you using object caching on your server(s), I recall an issue with object caching taking a while to clear. Perhaps this is why you are not seeing a difference?
Do you host all of your sites on the same server or server configuration?
Although I do see a couple of elements loading (css & js) that I would question why are loading, but I would not say there are “tons”.

    Best regards,
    Mike
