I’m having trouble having anything I install into the header.php work. First off…I cannot do anything in WordPress editor. All changes have to my cpanel. I was told this is al a theme issue.
Specifically today, I was attempting to install Google Analytics and Google Tags. I placed the codes in the correct places but, Tags won’t fire (error message) and when I look at a page source there is a lot of code for “style type” that separate the beginning of the code and the end. So I assumed the issue is me trying to put it directly is the header.php so I’ve since moved them to a plugin for headers and footers but with that all that shows on page source is:
<!– Google Tag Manager –>
<!– End Google Tag Manager –>
<!– Global site tag (gtag.js) – Google Analytics –>No other part of either code. The body code for tag manager displays fine so the issue is header. Can I please have someone look at this because these issues with editing the theme file have persisted for months and I don’t know what to do.

August 19, 2018 at 8:14 pm #999063Hi Victoria,
So if I understand correctly, even though I currently have Enfold, I need to download a file that is Enfold Child theme on top of that and in the child theme functions.php is where I should be making changes not in the regular Enfold functions.php?
And if this is correct, what happens with changes I have made in there thus far? Is there a way to have them copied over to the child theme so that I can just have all and any customizations in one place?
August 19, 2018 at 8:35 pm #999071I’ve downloaded the child theme but I haven’t activated it yet. When I look at the Preview of It on my site…much of my customization isn’t showing, Will activating the child theme mea I lose all of the font, colour preferences etc that I’ve made to my site?
August 19, 2018 at 9:04 pm #999085Hi Rgrant74 ,
Yes, that should be done is a child theme.
You need to export the settings you made in the parent theme, activate the child theme and import the theme options and save.
This way all your settings will be there.

VictoriaAugust 19, 2018 at 10:12 pm #999107Thank you I’ll do that then try the instructions fro the FTM installation.
Can you point to me instructions on copying/export the settings from parent to child. The simplest / layman way.
