GuestA couple of questions – I am not the original purchaser of this theme. However, I am tasked with updating it –
1) Do I have to buy a license or can we look it up by the URL?
2) Your current Parent Theme (Enfold) Version Number is 3.5.4 <== does this mean my child theme is also out of date or is it possible the child has been updating?
3) Let me know the update path please – it states that it must be reinstalled from what I have read? Will that affect the look and function of the site?
Thank you
MarkJanuary 14, 2020 at 10:38 am #1173197Hi Mark,
1. If you can’t get access to the theme files from the person who purchased the theme then I think you will have to buy a new license unfortunately.
2. The child is only there to override the parent, so updating the parent should be enough, but it depends on what you are actually overriding.
3. You will need to update the theme manually via FTP yes, please try to delete it then upload the new version, or use a plugin like this: https://wordpress.org/plugins/update-theme-and-plugins-from-zip-file/
I would suggest that you perform the update on a staging site or copy of the site first to make sure that you don’t run into any problems.

GuestSo far so bad. I used the plugin suggested on our staging site and got the error:.
Installing Theme from uploaded file: themeforest-fvnRsue4-enfold-responsive-multipurpose-theme.zip
Unpacking the package…Installing the theme…
The package could not be installed. The theme is missing the style.css stylesheet.
Theme installation failed.
I have purchased the theme so hopefully, tech support is available for this update? is this the problem that the style.css is missing has there been any other problems like this or is this because I’m upgrading over the original?

GuestI did determine the problem – in updating, I have lost some of the customizations from the original page, however. Any advice? I did export the theme settings – hoping that importing them will bring the site back. Let me know if you have any other suggestions.
January 15, 2020 at 10:09 am #1173872Hi,
The package could not be installed. The theme is missing the style.css stylesheet.
You are uploading the wrong zip file, please unzip the file in question, then look for enfold.zip inside of that folder. That is the file you should use.
If you have imported settings and they don’t apply then please try to toggle a setting and then try to save again. Also make sure that you have selected to delete the old CSS and JS files under Enfold->Performance.

GuestThank you for your fast reply.
As stated I got passed the install error on my own, I also was able to make most settings match from the theme settings file which I exported then saved and imported. The problem is that there are some global font changes that I don’t find the exact location where they where made in your interface. Can you look at the pages (one my staging area and one the original) and veiw the original font vs the current font. (One is actually script / cursive) I need to know the exact location to update these 3 areas in your theme. Thank you!
January 16, 2020 at 9:28 am #1174783Hi,
Thanks for the update. You should be able to change the font under Enfold->General Styling->Fonts.

RikardJanuary 18, 2020 at 6:46 pm #1175890Richard – I have not heard from anyone on my thread in the paid forums. My client is nervous – can you please prompt someone to take charge of my case? Are you open today?
January 19, 2020 at 9:06 pm #1176113Hi thetechpros,
What do you mean by “have not heard from anyone on my thread in the paid forums”?
I see there is such a user. Are you able to login to the forum?
Best regards,
VictoriaJanuary 19, 2020 at 9:59 pm #1176126Yes, I did log in and left my query in the other forum which you initially answered quickly – they answered me this morning and I am testing it soon. It took a long time for them to figure it out I guess. I will continue there if I have further issues. Thanks for your reply Victoria. I was concerned because in that forum you left a message for me to clear my cache and report back, then, vanished! I could see you were busy all day helping others by your time stamps and posts – just not me! I was beginning to think you didn’t like me :( … all is well, again if the fix works.
Thanks

Thanks for the update and feedback. We’ll leave this thread open in case you should need any further help from us.

RikardJanuary 20, 2020 at 7:22 am #1176214it is a hot mess – if I had heard back more often on your forum, maybe it could have gone more smoothly – thanks for the offer and the follow up in pre-sales — my account is below and it details my agony if you want to put yourself through it – that is the one I needed the attention paid to.
I know you are busy – but this is a big company at a tradeshow and we let them down.
I have placed the old site back in charge and I am going to see if a backup can be restored from before I started.
January 23, 2020 at 9:42 am #1177469Hi,
@thetechpro: We would like to apologize for any inconvenience the update may have caused you. Upgrading from an old version of the theme v3.5.4 to the latest one v4.7.2 is indeed quite tricky because a lot has change since — new options, features, code refactors and bug fix, so errors are unavoidable. To prevent this issue from ever happening again and to save time, please make it a habit to update the theme whenever a new patch is available.
Thank you for your patience.
Best regards,
