Hi Support,
After purchasing , installing parent theme, adding and activating child theme and I am yet to understand how to work with enfold.
So I thought I would go to the support page
https://kriesi.at/support/ ( seriously where do you start a new Topic from this link? Maybe I am just blind and cant see the link or button or whatever )
…only to discover I needed to sign up which meant getting my purchase code (more logging in) and then verification via an email then a link to creating a password to creating an account to which I then was required to log in and so on. Good Greif!
So then it was to https://kriesi.at/support/ and guess what no way to start a new thread and ask a question – so then I thought I would use google which ultimately led to this page = again good grief!Back to the actual issue – after the purchase install of enfold and relevant child theme (via ftp) I am none the wiser. I then used the Demo import to import the ‘Consulting Demo” given that was the design layout that persuaded me at purchase time to buy the enfold theme. right or wrongly i had assumed from the theme information that I would be able to use the “Demo” as a template – edit the “Lorem Ipsum” and be up and running with a fresh new look website.
I now doubt that was possible – or is it?
April 1, 2018 at 9:21 am #935745Hey JRTaxi,
Thanks for sharing your story, it can be rough sometimes.
About your problem; did you manage to get the demo imported? If you did, then you should be able to simply edit the demo pages and insert your own content. If you are having problems with that then please try to explain a bit further exactly what you are having problems with.
Best regards,
RikardApril 1, 2018 at 11:56 am #935753Hi Rikard,
thank you for your responseYes I did mange to upload the Demo – thought that was implicit in my post, although I can understand after a re-read that might be a little ambiguous – none the less I am unable “to simply edit the demo pages and insert my own content”. As I also stated that was my asumption – not my experience.
Can you provide me with the steps that would lead to being able to edit the demo page ie where in the dashboard
Regards John
April 2, 2018 at 8:18 am #935953Hi John,
Basically you just need to go to Pages > select a page > Avia Layout Builder, from here you need to drag elements that you need, it is separated in Layout Elements, Content Elements, Media Elements, Plugin Additions, if you want to add just text you can add Text Block under Content Elements. For more information regarding the specific elements, you can refer to our documentation: https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/
Hope it helps :)Best regards,
NikkoApril 3, 2018 at 7:18 am #936341Hi Nikko,
no that does not help. Did you happen to read through the thread before responding?
If I had wanted to design my own site using your “theme” then I would use the ‘Advanced layout’ tool to do so. However that is not what I am looking to do. Rightly or wrongly I had assumed from the ‘theme’ information that I would be able to use the “Demo” as a template ie pre defined content – edit the “Lorem Ipsum” and be up and running with a fresh new look website ie using the demo as a starting point. If this is not possible as appears to me it is not given your response then what is the point of the “Demo Import”?
April 3, 2018 at 10:15 am #936425Hi John,
What Nikko wrote is the way to edit the demo, since it’s created with the Layout Builder which comes with the theme. So all you have to do is to edit a page which was included in the demo under Pages in the WordPress menu. Once you are on the edit page then you will see that each page is populated by elements in the Layout Builder, you can edit each of them by hovering over the element and clicking the pen+paper icon.
If you should still have problems doing this then please post admin login details in private so that we can access your site, then let us know what changes you would like to make and we’ll make them for you so that you can see that it’s possible to edit everything.
Best regards,

thank you for your response – I will look at this tomorrow.

RikardApril 4, 2018 at 12:35 pm #937105Hi Rikard,
in the interim – can you please tell me – how do you start a new thread/enquiry from the support page – https://kriesi.at/support
and how do you edit your image from the ‘Edit Profile’ link once you have logged in ?
John
April 4, 2018 at 2:03 pm #937160Hi John,
You can start a new thread by navigating to a sub-forum, like Enfold. There you will see a big blue button above the topics, which reads Can’t find a solution to your problem? Open a new thread.
The profile pictures are fetched from Gravatar.
Best regards,
RikardApril 5, 2018 at 2:20 am #937411Hi Rikard,
starting on the page at https://kriesi.at/support cant see any obvious way to navigate “to a sub-forum, like Enfold.”
I don’t doubt the pictures are fetched from Gravatar but how – what is the navigation path when you are in “Edit Profile”
John
April 5, 2018 at 7:58 am #937532Hi John,
It seems pretty obvious to me, maybe you could try clicking the link which reads Enfold?
You have to sign up for Gravatar, then add your profile picture there.

April 5, 2018 at 1:51 pm #937744Hi Rickard,
I can see what you mean – clicking the link which reads ‘Enfold’ leads to the page which has the “big blue button above the topics, which reads Can’t find a solution to your problem? Open a new thread.” let me say that as a new comer that was not as “obvious to me” as it was to you. Most likely because you knew where to look and what to do. To a new comer that was not “obvious’ nor is it intuitive, you could consider taking this as an insight into the mind of a newcomer rather than a criticism – change or modify the initial ‘support page’ to instruct how you would expect someone to respond such as you do on the ‘enfold’ pagei will look into signing up for gravatar

April 6, 2018 at 6:14 am #938026Hi John,
Thanks for the feedback, it’s much appreciated. We’ll have a look if there might be things we can clarify in the layout of the forum.
Please let us know if you should need any further help on the topic.

RikardMay 6, 2018 at 9:16 am #952288Hi Rikard
I have made some progress with the ENFOLD theme and have some problems I cant solve. These problems relate to ‘editing’ .The first problem relates to the ‘Burger’ menu item which I have selected as the default for desktop and mobile etc – Where do I navigate to edit the text? The second problem I have relates to what appear to being 4 x text boxes at the bottom of the page – 1.”Some INFOS” 2. “Company name address phone and Email address” 3. “OFFICE HOURS” 4. ARCHIVE” these items do not show in the Avia Layout builder.- Where do I navigate to edit the text, add and or remove etc?
May 7, 2018 at 6:23 am #952501Hi John,
Thanks for checking in. I’m not sure exactly what you are referring to since I can’t see a link to your site. Could you post that here so that we can have a closer look at it please?
If you want to edit the text of your menu items then you can do so under Apperance->Menus.
I think you are referring to the footer for your question about the 4 boxes. You can edit those under Appearance->Widgets.
Best regards,
RikardMay 7, 2018 at 8:25 am #952531Hey Rikard
your response was helpful – thank you.Would be happy to share site however not live – have an active “launchpad’ filling in while I develop new site – just deactivating to test new site online and reactivating as I continue to edit and develop. Also as a relative newbie I undersatnd that I have a steep learning curve. Your support is appreciated
Second problem first – you were correct it was the footer – I had been looking at the Footer in Theme options (pull down menu) – I followed your lead and found the 4 ‘boxes’ under Appearance->Widgets. Which leads to another question – what is the ‘socket’? see Theme options Footer
Re the first problem: yes it was Appearance->Menus that I was looking for to edit the information. When I go to Appearance > Menus and review the information I note that the pre-populated information in the the first menu is “Welcome” when I look at the same menu item on the ‘live preview’ the information is in two rows “Welcome” and underneath is additional information, this is the case on each of the menu items. Where would I go to edit that information? What is a mega menu? Is there a link to learning more about Menus or do I just experiment with the settings – would you support deleting all menus and starting from blank setup
In both of the above examples I am having some difficulty understanding the relationship between the Theme Options (pull down menu) and the Appearance Options ie Appearance > Menus and Appearance->Widgets. Then there is the Appearance>Customize options which also references menu and widgets. All of these have overlap between the use of the same words ie Menu and Widgets – is there explainer link?

May 8, 2018 at 2:35 am #953019Hi Rikard,
further to my query questions above.I note that in the icon selection window there are icons that reference dollars & euros – I also note that they are behind a circle with a a diamter line which is the symbol for NO or NO Entry – are there alternative icons such as a dollar sign without the barred circle?

May 8, 2018 at 6:08 am #953107Hi John,
Socket; if you select to display that it will be shown as block below your footer. Most people use it for displaying a copyright text.
About the menu; I’m not sure if I’m understanding you correctly but you are looking to edit the text which is under the actual menu item? If so then go to Appearance->Menus then click Screen Options in the top right hand corner, and select to show Description in there.
Mega menu; that is a type of extended large drop-down menu, we have some documentation on it here. Though it is a bit old so things might look a bit different on your actual installation.
About the options; the Layout menu on the edit page is only for selecting what to display, then you alter the actual information under for instance Apperance->Menus/Widgets. The Layout menu is specific to the Enfold theme, and the other options are WordPress defaults. We don’t have any documentation on this unfortunately.

RikardMay 8, 2018 at 6:10 am #953110Hi again John,
If you want to add additional icons to the theme then you would have to follow this: https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/custom-social-icons/

RikardMay 8, 2018 at 6:38 am #953135OK understand sockets – thank you
will checkout icons – thx
have checked out mega menus – now i understand thx
Another issue
After each time editor I use the update button to save and then preview changes. each occurrence produces a new revision. Is there a limit to the number of revisions? I ask because a strange thing has started to occur intermittently as I continue to make changes, whole sections disappear from the page and I have to revert to earlier version and try again. I have also noticed that when i am using the editor and select ‘Save’ the window doesn’t close as it is supposed to and I only have the X to use to close the editor and larger chunks of the page disappear. Thoughts on what i might be doing wrongMay 9, 2018 at 6:10 am #953690Hi John,
Disappearing content; is that happening on the backend in the Layout Builder? If so then you likely have open html markup somewhere in your content just before the sections which disappear:
<strong>Bold text closed properly</strong>
Please check for any markup which might still be open, since it breaks the Layout Builder. I’m not sure how many revisions will be save actually, since that is default WordPress functionality. But I can imagine that it saves something like 10 for each page.

Rikard- This reply was modified 6 years, 6 months ago by Rikard.
May 9, 2018 at 10:28 am #953791Hi Rikard,
I did not know that . That is helpful to know – thank youIf that is correct it is a relief to hear because I was very confused about what was happening. I will check to see if there is any markup still open. I am a little busy with other things at present and will review shortly to see if I can fix the problem and let you know.
On another matter – I went live with the site to test responsiveness and to use a google test to identify any issue that might affect how google sees and understand the site. Google returned a report that said the page had partially loaded and that “Not all resources could be loaded.” There were 24 page resources in total. How would you suggest I deal with this issue. Their message to me was: “Fix availability problems for any resources that can affect how Google understand your page.”
Is there any image specifications (size) for the various image containers? eg Can I change the size of the image as it appears in say the slider – do I need to crop an image and the slider deals with a smaller image or do I have to change the slider somehow?
John
May 10, 2018 at 7:36 am #954407Hi John,
Thanks for the feedback. I think we would need to see your actual site to answer those questions. A link to the google report would be helpful as well.
About image sizes; it all depends on what type of slider we are talking about. If it’s full width then of course you would want wide high resolution images to be able to display nicely on all sorts of screens. If the slider is in a container then you would only need smaller images to fit the container in question.
Best regards,
RikardMay 11, 2018 at 8:40 am #955078Hi Rikard,
Thank you.
I would like to show you the site and will do when I can. I will run another test via google and share those results if there are any problems identified.I think my question re images gave you the impression I was asking about resolution and I agree high resolution best for full width slider and lower re for smaller containers. My query was about the dimensions – meaning would the slider automatically adjust itself to the dimensions of an image if for example I were to crop an image so that it was short in height and wide in breadth. Or would I need to alter the dimensions of the slider. Not sure if I have understood how such things work and that is my question.
I am working on a single page and have noted the ability of append a #hashtag to the URL to get to a certain part of the page – my questions is how do I specify where on the page that menu item url + hastag will go. I can see where the # is described/entered I cant see how to determine the place on the page that the # takes you to. I hope that is clearer than my earlier image question.
FYI – I will be restarting from scratch ( I have the content and it may just be easier than looking for open code) and not adding any of my own HTML to ensure if only in the first instance I wont cause the site to break.
Your help is appreciated.
May 12, 2018 at 6:56 am #955563Hi John,
Slider images; which slider are you using? In general larger image would be preferable, but it really depend on where and how you use it. Also, I would recommend that you keep the images in roughly the same format, otherwise the results can be a bit ugly and I think that is what you are trying to avoid? I would try to crop the images the way you want them, and if the results are not what you expected then you can always have another go.
Anchor links; you can add your own ID to a Color Section element for instance, and then link to it by for example putting something like this into the link of one of your menu items:
#name-of-your-anchor
That should scroll to the anchor on the same page. You can also write custom code to achieve the same thing. Let me know if you should need the code instead.

RikardMay 13, 2018 at 11:32 am #956006Hi Rikard,
I have deleted the parent and child enfold themes from WP. I now understand after having reinstalled enfold and rebuilt page that deleting may not have been sufficient to remove all remnants of the theme. Can you please tell me where I can find detailed instruction on uninstalling the theme in its entirety or do I have to uninstall WordPress. The reason I want to do this is to ensure nothing is remaining that may affecting the re upload and install because I don’t think it was effective last time around.
There are some things happening which I am not clear about in addtion to all of the above and in no particular order:
The back ground of the contact form will not change from Black, despite selecting the white tab in the editor, It changes in the editor and not in the published page. frustrating.
Only the welcome page showed up after the reinstall
The background color of the footer widgets is different on the desktop view as opposed to the view on an iPhone. Frustrating
The image (same size) I have introduced to the slider is not filling the space and has a gap at the top. Frustrating
The text on the image in the slider is moving around from device to device – Frustrating
The site is still breaking as I make changes I have back pedaled to an earlier revision – again I can go no further because the site is ‘breaking’ see URL below under Private content.24 – 48 hours between questions and answers also frustrating – what time zone are you in and do you have live chat support?

May 13, 2018 at 3:03 pm #956039Hi,
To reset the site completely please use the plugin WordPress Reset
But as I see you are working on your site this should not be necessary at this point, lets look at your questions.
1: Without logging in, it looks as though the background color for your cell that contains the contact form is not set, it’s getting the black as the default body color. Please try changing the color in the 1/2 flex cell (grid row) What color did you want it?
2: the footer widgets look the same in mobile & desktop for me, what color are they in iPhone?
3: the slider at the top seems to be inside a color section, please try moving the slider outside the color section, or if you are only going to have one background-image, thus not sliding, try removing the slider and add the background-image to the color section, then add your text block to the color section as a 1/2 column using a empty 1/2 column for the other side.
Or try this code in the General Styling > Quick CSS field to just hide the space:#top.home #main .container_wrap.container_wrap_first.main_color.fullsize { display: none !important; }
4: the text on the slider will move some, as the width is a percentage of the screen width, it seems minimal, what size is frustrating you the most? Please include screenshots.
5: Please explain how your site is braking, I’m not really seeing it.Sorry to hear that this has been frustrating, I know Enfold has a lot of options and controls. Perhaps if you include a admin login in the private content area we can help with these and explain the steps to help you learn the theme.
You can see the Enfold documentation hereBest regards,
MikeMay 14, 2018 at 9:22 am #956317Hi Mike,
Re – To reset the site completely please use the plugin WordPress Reset – good to know thx
still interested to know – 24 – 48 hours between questions and answers also frustrating – what time zone are you in and do you have live chat support?
Please also note that on iPhone 6s the ‘icon cells’ sit side by side in portrait mode and text side by side with images also in portrait mode and text cells containing bullets also shows side by side on iPhone which makes for lousy layout small text etc etc
please see following responses to your points 1-5
1: Without logging in, it looks as though the background color for your cell that contains the contact form is not set, it’s getting the black as the default body color. Please try changing the color in the 1/2 flex cell (grid row) What color did you want it? White – I did of course try to change via the grid row – there are 3 choices white grey and black – no luck from my end.
2: the footer widgets look the same in mobile & desktop for me, what color are they in iPhone? On iPhone dark grey.
That all seems to make sense will give it a go.
4: the text on the slider will move some, as the width is a percentage of the screen width, it seems minimal, what size is frustrating you the most? Please include screenshots. How do I provide you with screenshots ?
5: Please explain how your site is braking, I’m not really seeing it. – the best way for your to see this is via the revision history. – log in details provided below
