Neither the Google RECAPTCHA or GOOGLE MAPS (API) are working on our site even though everything has been correctly entered
The Maps API doesn’t save when it’s pasted into the Google services / Google API box – when we press ‘check API key’ the error message is ‘Could not connect to Google Maps with this API Key.’ and the API is no saved
Any ideas?

VictoriaDecember 19, 2019 at 10:27 pm #1167969I have put the api key into the field. When i click on the button “Check API-Key” there comes the error, that the api key is not valid. After that i go to the pages to have a look at the map site. If i come back to Google Maps API Key it isn’t anymore in the field.

December 24, 2019 at 1:28 pm #1168938Hey!
Could you please check following once again
If you use the restriction setting on Google try to remove that, wait a few minutes for google to apply your changes and then check again if the key works here. If it does, you probably have a syntax error in your referrer url
I tried your API key on my installation as well and received the same error so it has to be related to the API key or restriction settings rather than your plugins.
Cheers!

January 2, 2020 at 10:57 pm #1169208I’ve tried removing the restrictions, I’ve disabled all the plugins, I’ve regenerated the key – nothing works!
Even the Google RECAPTCHA only works on the WP login screen, but not the site
Any more ideas?January 3, 2020 at 5:59 pm #1170059Hi bankviewfarm,
I see no key added for the maps. Can you please share it with us in private?
Best regards,
VictoriaJanuary 3, 2020 at 10:40 pm #1170131Hi. When I add the key it doesn’t save – I’ve pasted it into the private reply
Also, even though the RECAPTCHA V2 and V3 site keys and secret keys are all correct and have saved in the site, the RECAPCTHA also doesn’t work

VictoriaJanuary 4, 2020 at 12:27 pm #1170221Hi,
I’ve removed all restrictions on the API and added it to the website again – still getting the same error message “Could not connect to Google Maps with this API Key.”
I’ve also tried this with all the plug-ins disabled
The Google Cloud Platform says the API has been used 5 times which makes me think the key is OK but it’s a problem with the website
What should we try next?
Also, why is the RECAPTCHA not working?January 6, 2020 at 4:21 pm #1170750Hi,
Thank you for writing to us.
When I checked settings in Google services the Captcha and Maps were disabled. I have enabled the settings and updated the API keys for Captcha and to test the captcha I have created a private test page please check the link in private content area. The captcha works fine.
However, Google maps API key is incorrect I wasn’t able to connect. For testing purpose, I tried your Google maps API key on my testing site to see if I can connect with it but I got the same error on my testing site.
Please delete the Google Maps API key from the Google console and re-create a fresh key and it should work for you :)
Let us know if you have any questions, we are happy to help :)

VinayJanuary 13, 2020 at 8:09 pm #1172930Hi,
Neither the RECAPTCHA V2 or V3 are working on the contact form (except V3 works on the WP login page only)
I’ve followed your instructions for generating a Google Maps API again exactly and generated an unrestricted new key but it is still not workingJanuary 15, 2020 at 10:03 am #1173870Hi,
Thank you for the update.
The spam protection has to be configured directly in the contact form. The Contact Form Captcha settings in the contact form element was set to not display any captcha or spam protection, so we enabled v2. It should work properly now.
The map API key is valid, but the Geocoding Service API is not enabled and there is no billing account attached to the project.
Geocoding Service: You must enable Billing on the Google Cloud Project at https://console.cloud.google.com/project/_/billing/enable Learn more at https://developers.google.com/maps/gmp-get-started For more information on authentication and Google Maps JavaScript API services please see: https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/javascript/get-api-key
