I have made the Portfolio button non-clickable: it is a Drop-Down menu that appears when the mouse hovers over the word ‘Portfolio’ on the menu.
The menu goes: Portfolio – mouse over – drop down list is: Airports, Education Centers, Sports Centers, … (all these have been created as Portfolio Categories).
I have Portfolio Items, such as ARSENAL FC (under Sports Centers), MIT (under Education Centers), etc.
What I want is when the visitor hovers over Portfolio and moves the mouse on ‘Education Centers’, for a page to appear that shows in Grid all the projects that are Education Centers.
How can i do this?
October 8, 2015 at 3:17 pm #515849Hi Chris!
You can go to Appearance > Menus and create your menu in such structure – http://i.imgur.com/pbkb4Lz.png You can add “Portfolio Items” and “Portfolio 2 Columns” as a new link and enter # for URL so they will not be clickable
Cheers!

So when you hover over the item your wanting a small AJAX preview to display the contents inside? That would take quite a bit of time and code to implement so it would have to be considered custom work. It would be best to hire a freelancer to help you out with this customization.

ElliottOctober 8, 2015 at 3:24 pm #515860Hi YIGIT. I have already composed the Menu structure (with the # non-clickable custom links, etc.).
Hi ELLIOT. I am not a web designer nor am I versed with website designing. I do not understand what AJAX preview means. Can you please explain?
Basically, what I am looking for is an interim page where all the projects that belong to a Portfolio Category (like a Portfolio Grid) will be displayed.
October 8, 2015 at 3:26 pm #515864The problem is that although i have created Portfolio Items and referenced properly per their Category, when I select that Category from the Drop-Down menu, the page shows nothing.
I have found a workaround in that I add each Portfolio Item under the Menu (in the Portfolio Category), and it works, but the Menu will become huge as there are many projects. Plus, I do not want all the Portfolio Items in the Menu.
October 8, 2015 at 4:32 pm #515950Hey!
It sounds like your wanting to add the portfolio category links to the menu then. In Dashboard > Appearance > Menus click on “Screen Options” in the top right hand corner of your screen and check the portfolio categories to display. You can then add the portfolio categories to your menu.
If you have already done that and they are linking to nothing then send us a WordPress login so we can take a closer look. I see you gave us a link to your site but it’s under a coming soon plugin so we cannot check the menu.
Be sure to deactivate all plugins while testing and consider refreshing your permalinks in Dashboard > Settings > Permalinks. That could solve the issue of no posts displaying in your archives.
Cheers!

I tried to login to the site but it’s not working. I’m not sure how Elliott managed to access the dashboard. Did you create another user? Please post the new login details and the url to the page with the issue.
Cheers!
