Hi,
after entering my license, the update area in Enfold-settings doesn’t work. It always shows the same version and says there is no update available (also in wordpress dashboard!), even if there is one. I then have to update via ftp, which is annoying. What could be the problem here? Thanks for supporting.
TimJuly 29, 2022 at 10:37 am #1359793I am also experiencing this with a handful of my Enfold sites. I think there is a probelm in Enfold relating to this.
I also experience the following problem as well – This is a different cause.
I have 50 Enfold licenses and the download limit in quick succession with Theme Forest is set at 20. its a pain when trying to bulk update sites because it wont let you do more once you hit the limit.July 29, 2022 at 11:40 am #1359821Hi,
First of all, did you register your theme license? https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/theme-registration/
If the updates should not come through after properly registering your license, then please try to install and configure this plugin: https://envato.com/market-plugin/
I’m not sure if Envato has any download limits, but if that is the case, then it’s not a theme problem. It would have to be raised at Envato support if you should need further clarification or help on that topic.

Thanks for the update. Do you have security plugins or firewalls on the sites where it’s not working?
Best regards,
RikardJuly 29, 2022 at 12:35 pm #1359838You raise a good point Rikard,
This might be due to the firewall and database settings on my new server.I’ve got to run some updates. When I encounter one of the sites that is showing no updates available I’ll post it here.

July 29, 2022 at 2:03 pm #1359852Hello Rikard,
yes, I registered it, and check say its ok. I’m not willed to install a plugin so that updates for antoher plugin is runnig, thats weird! As you know, best practise is to use as less plugins as possible. So please offer a stable solution within enfold.
Thanks

July 29, 2022 at 8:05 pm #1359886Hi,
Thanks for the update. You can keep an eye out if the updates come through or not. If not, then the plugin is the solution we have to offer at the moment.

RikardAugust 6, 2022 at 5:18 pm #1360927Hi,
after installing 5.1.1 per FTP-Upload 1 week ago, today (!) theme-manger of WP says the them needs an update? Checking it in Enfolds “Theme-Update” it says 5.1.1. But WordPress says its still 4.9. This triggers warning-mails by Wordfence. How can I fix this?Best Regards
TimAugust 6, 2022 at 6:48 pm #1360940Hi Tim,
Thanks for the update. I’m not sure I understand your last reply, are you saying that something is telling you different versions of the theme? Or is 4.9 the version of WordPress maybe? If I’m misunderstanding the problem, then please try to explain it a bit further. Screenshots highlighting it might help us understand better as well.
Best regards,
RikardAugust 6, 2022 at 7:06 pm #1360941Unfortunately I can’t attach jpgs here.
But its simple: Enfold itself says 5.1.1. installed
Worpress says that Enfold 4.9 is installed and need an update.August 6, 2022 at 8:21 pm #1360944Hi,
Thanks for the clarification. Could you post admin WordPress login details in private to the site where we can see this happening please?

RikardAugust 7, 2022 at 4:18 pm #1361003Here it goes. As you see, in “Design-> Themes” you will find separate Enfolds, the Child, 4.9 and 5.1.1….
August 7, 2022 at 8:52 pm #1361014Hi Tim,
Thanks for that. I see that the latest version of the theme is being used on your site, you can verify that under Enfold->Theme Update. I see that you have two Enfold installations on your site, you can simply delete the old version under Appearance->Themes. The child theme version number is something you set yourself, it’s not an indication of the parent theme version. If you want to change that, then you can edit style.css in the child theme.

RikardAugust 8, 2022 at 9:53 am #1361066Glad you have found the issue for Tim.
I will raise a ticket seperately for my issue with updates. I have not been able to re-create this yet. I think it might be something to do with the specific clients host/plesk/cpanel install – I dont know which but I think theme updates had been disabled.
If I encounter the problem on a site where I can show you the issue properly I’ll raise another ticket.
August 8, 2022 at 9:58 am #1361067This means, every time I do a update via FTP, there will be a second theme installed and I have to delete the older one?
Regards
TimAugust 8, 2022 at 10:03 am #1361068If you use FTP you can directly replace the current theme. However it is good practice to keep a copy of the previous release.
If you wish to not have more than one copy. You can take the new copy of the theme, unzip it first on your PC/Mac then upload the files via an FTP client. It will give you the option to overwrite the existing files.
Otherwise it is best practice for FTP uploads to rename the current theme to something like Enfold-Backup-08082022 Then upload the new one and call it Enfold. You can then roll back to the previous version just by renaming the folders.
If you have a license key you can connect it to pull the updates through with other WordPress updates by entering the API key in the panel. See Rikards earlier post.
Have you tried the two methods that Rikard suggested to turn on the auto updates from theme forest?
August 8, 2022 at 11:34 am #1361088Hi Tim,
Updating via FTP doesn’t mean that you have to have two theme folder, but it’s the most secure way of updating, as @thinkjarvis pointed out. If I update via FTP, then I create a new folder called enfold_new for example, then I upload all the files. After that I change the old folder to enfold_old, and the new one to only enfold, then I check if the site is working as it should. If it’s working as expected, then I delete the old version under Appearance in the WordPress menu.
Best regards,
Rikard -
