Have theme installed, but when I try to activate the theme, the whole site goes to a blank page. I can’t even login to the dashboard, it also goes to a blank page. I can deactivate the theme and the site comes back.

Try increasing the memory allocated to PHP:
https://codex.wordpress.org/Editing_wp-config.php#Increasing_memory_allocated_to_PHPAlso disable all third-party plugins before activating the theme.
