Hi,
On my category pages the first blog post is shown in it’s full length, and the rest with excerpts and a “Read more” link. But I’d like the first post to be only excerpt and “Read more” as well. But how do I go about that?

Thank you for the inquiry.
Did you define the excerpt of the posts manually? It doesn’t seem like you’re using the advance layout builder for the first post. Please check the Settings > Reading panel, make sure that it is set to “Summary” instead of “Full Posts”. Or post the login details in the private field so that we can check the settings.

No, I don’t use ALB since it’s a category page. It just shows the recent blog post from that specific category – that why I wonder, why the first post is shown at full length. I checked the reading panel and everything seems to be right there…
Please find login detail in private field…

Sorry for the late reply and thanks for the login, I see that for the posts on your category page the first one was created with the default WordPress editor (Classic Editor) and all of the other ones were created with the Advanced Layout Builder, or they were created with the Classic Editor but opened and saved with the Advanced Layout Builder.
I see that some of your other posts in other categories that are built with the Classic Editor are also showing at full length, but some are short posts so you might not notice.
So since you have posts built with different editors the easiest solution for you is to add the More tag in your Classic Editor posts as you find them.
This is very easy by putting the cursor where you want the “read more” button to show and clicking a button in the toolbar.
Please see the screenshot in Private Content area.
I did this for you on your first post talked about above, so you can review.Best regards,
Mike -
