Hello, First off I would like to say thank you for making my life so much easier!!! This theme is awesome! Before I get carried away I’d like to know if I should even create a child theme for Enfold? If so.. why and how? I had initally designed the theme the way I wanted it, but then I came across the woocommerce product page and tried to get rid of the “sort items” dropdown list because I only am showcasing a few products. Anyways I looked at tutorials online and they recommended using a child theme.

I want to start this website off efficiently and properly. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Hi nvltygoods!

Generally yes a child theme is a good idea in case you want to add in your own functions or modify the core files easily. You’ll still need to keep track of all the changes you make but it makes it a bit easier to do so.

For a quick how to on creating a child theme see: https://vimeo.com/67221517

There is a download link for on in the comment on the video from Kriesi.

    Best regards,

    Hi

I have a newbie question too.

I didn’t start with using a child theme neither.
I started with “Import dummy data”
I have only added some text, pictures and plugins like SEO, super catche, better security ++
I also changed some names in the main menu and changed permalinks.
    Everything done via wp dashboard.

In the video you have linked to, he says: “…so if you’re doing a child theme, it’s important to do it before you really start doing anything. Before you do the “Import dummy data” ”

Is it to late for me to add a child theme?

    Hi!

No, it isn’t too late. WordPress saves all of your theme settings and menu options based on the currently active theme name. So when you switch to the child theme you’ll lose those options.

You can use the themes import parent settings button (just under the import dummy data) to bring over a lot of them if not all of them. So where you are at now, there should be no issues.

    Cheers!
    Devin
