Hi there, I hope you are well. I have a web maintenance client that I onboarded back in May of 2022. There are some wacky things going on with their site and I realize now it could be because they’re still running version 4.8.7.1 of Enfold! I suspect their original designer purchased the theme on ThemeForest and never gave them access to be able to apply updates. I’m sure I could convince this client to purchase their own license for the theme. I was just wondering if there is anything I should be aware of when upgrading from 4.8.71 to the latest version and/or any particular process you would recommend. Please and thank you.

    Hi Bonny,

    Thanks for contacting us!
Since it’s a very long time that it hasn’t been updated, I would suggest backing up your site first (if the hosting provider has that option then you can use it, if not you can use plugins to make a backup.
To make it less risky, try to setup a staging site first, it’s basically just a duplicate of your live site and placed on a subdomain where you can try to update without affecting your live site, some hosting provider offer an option to create a staging site via cpanel, but if your webhost does not have it on your Cpanel then you can use a plugin, please check this tutorial: https://wpengine.com/resources/what-is-a-staging-site-why-have-one/#How_to_Create_a_Staging_Site_for_WordPress
If it’s working properly then you should be able to do the same process on the live site, if it’s not then you can request help here and we’ll try to help you fix any issues.

    Best regards,
    Nikko
