navigation not excluding private pages

Demo data pages are showing in navigation – even though the pages are set to ‘private’.

I wanted to try some of the awesomeness on the demo pages while I modify my own content. I imported demo data pages, then promtly set those pages to ‘draft’. That didn’t hide pages from the navigation, so I set them to ‘private’. However, these demo pages are still showing up.
I’ve also cleared the cache and deactivated unnecessary plugins.
