Hello Kriesi Support Team
A client of mine wanted a movie in a color section of the website. It is not running on mobile phones (iphone). -> Link below.
Could you let me know the reason? We linked the movie (currently) via Youtube.
Thanks so much & all the best,
CorinaAugust 27, 2017 at 1:47 pm #844512Hey Corina,
Background videos do not auto play on mobile, this is a device restriction, try using a fallback image.Best regards,
MikeAugust 27, 2017 at 1:56 pm #844516Hey Mike
Is the fallback image the image that I can load additionally in the color section? Because it loads it quickly and then the Youtube still of the movie with the “play” button loads. But the button is not selectable, ie nothing happens.
Thanks for your help in clarifying, see link below for reference.
All the best,
CorinaAugust 27, 2017 at 10:06 pm #844572Hi,
Try a Color Section up top with the video, with the Screen Options > Element Visibility set to “Hide on very small screens”
Then another Color Section below with the image, with the Screen Options > Element Visibility set to only show on small screens, ie. check all others.
This will give you a fallback image without the play button.Best regards,

Thanks so much. I just tried this option as described by you above and it does not seem to hide anything. It loads 2 color sections… and does not hide them, despite adjusting the settings as outlined by you (see screenshots). The only option that does seem to hide the video is if I click
“Hide video on Mobile Devices?
You can choose to hide the video entirely on Mobile devices and instead display the Section Background image
Most mobile devices can’t autoplay videos to prevent bandwidth problems for the user,”But that does mean it will not play it on any mobile devices, even if they would have the capacity, correct.
Question though is why is the solution you outlined not working? As this might be handy for other things?
Also, do you have any reference literature why website movies on mobile are not enabled and is a device restriction? Thanks so much.
CorinaPS. I just found this…
https://stackoverflow.com/questions/42160528/html5-autoplay-video-in-mobile-deviceIf I would upload the movie directly to the server would it then autoplay? or still not? Also if I add the movie directly from the server is it embedded as HTML5?

Thanks for all your help with this. As expected, my client does not accept the ‘not’ running movie on mobile phones. He’s now asked his IT person (also a webhost) to test and he got it to run (although takes about 5 minutes for the movie to load)
http://www.ithub.ch/videos.html
I know this is not best practice and I strongly advised against it but he wants to have it running on all devices and implement it on the nearly completed website.
Now my questions is… how do I implement it as above within enfold? It is running with the video tag as a background video and loading all the different file versions…
Thank you so much, I really appreciate your help.
CorinaAugust 31, 2017 at 12:47 pm #846208Hi Guys
I am really sorry but I don’t know how else to send this information than to post it in the thread…I try not to post before you answered normally.
So following all of the above my client sent me this information below and is asking for me to “turn” on the “playsinline” for the video. I looked around and searched the forum and I couldn’t find anything that works.
iOS 10 supports inline video playback in Safari on iPhone [Video]
I don’t know how I can edit the <video> tag to add this attribute.
I really appreciate your help with this as unfortunately he really wants it to work on the iphone. Thanks so much.

The video background of the color section is disabled on mobile by default. That’s why the “Fallback Image” feature is added. If you really need the video to display on mobile, please try the Layer Slider. You can set a video layer as background.
Best regards,
IsmaelSeptember 1, 2017 at 7:43 am #846665Hi Ismael,
Thanks so much for getting back to me. So there is no way to “enable” it for the color background? I tried the layer slider but it’s doing my head in… but if you say it will work, I will sit down and work it out.So Layer Slider video Backgrounds will work autorun on all mobile devices? Can you please confirm this?
Thanks so much & all the best,

Yes, the video background feature of the layer slider should work on mobile devices.
