Mobile vs Desktop Display

I setup two “Fullwidth Easy Sliders” and embedded graphics of different widths and heights. The different dimensions are intended to be display on mobile or desktop devices. For the mobile devices the Screen Options are set differently.

Mobile Device Banner
The checkbox with the title “Hide on large screens” was enabled so that the mobile banner will not display on desktop devices.

Desktop Device Banner
The 3 checkboxes with the titles “Hide on medium sized screens,” “Hide on small screens” and “Hide on very small screens” were enabled so that the desktop banner will not display on mobile devices.

But they both display on both devices. Therefore, my question is why?
