Hello,
Tooltips for icons are only occasionally working when I’m testing on iOS. Is there some way I can make tooltips appear consistently when an icon is clicked (I know hover events aren’t possible..).
Thanks for a wonderful theme :)
April 7, 2015 at 1:04 pm #424617Hi carbonquiver!
Please refer to this topic – https://kriesi.at/support/topic/icon-tool-tip-question/

YigitApril 7, 2015 at 1:49 pm #424670Hi Yigit,
Thanks for responding so quickly, however, it doesn’t seem to have solved the problem. Basically, the tool tips don’t seem to be working when I view the site on a mobile (it worked a couple of times, then it quit..).
Please check this page: http://www.floatingconcepts.net/client/CBS/courses/pgpm-courses/hr-management/#tab-id-2 (there’s a little icon beside the faculty member name ‘ JN Amrolia’..
I’ve implemented the code that was provided in the link you sent me (added the script to functions.php but that wasn’t working by itself, so I modified the shortcode.js as recommended). Now, tool tips are appearing only when I click them (on a desktop — this is fine..); but in a mobile, still no joy.
Do you think it may be an issue because I have W3 Total Cache plugin with js combine enabled..?
April 7, 2015 at 2:00 pm #424679Sorry if I should open another topic instead of posting in this same thread.. But I just wanted to know if I could nest content elements?
Instead of using the icon tooltip, is there anyway I can create a toggle item within a tab? Do let me know if this is possible.
Thanks!
April 7, 2015 at 3:55 pm #424760Don’t know if this is relevant, but I have implemented this in the Quick CSS to disable the mobile menu.. :
@media only screen and (max-width: 990px) {
#wrap_all {
position: relative !important;
}}And.. I think the tool tips as we well as the scroll to top navigation element stopped working in the mobile site after updating from 3.08 to the current 3.1.something.
April 9, 2015 at 2:13 am #425665Hi!
I get a “Nothing found error” when I try to open this link you have posted: http://www.floatingconcepts.net/client/CBS/courses/pgpm-courses/hr-management/#tab-id-2
However, I think I found the correct link: http://www.floatingconcepts.net/client/CBS/courses/pgpm-courses/hr-management-course/#tab-id-2I checked with Chrome mobile emulator as well as with my htc smartphone and on both the tooltips are showing fine for me.
Did you clear browser cache after making changes you mentioned above? Make sure to use newest WordPress and theme version.
Which device are you using? please check on a different smartphone as well to double check. What do you mean with “to nest content elements”? can you explain what you want to achieve please?
Regards,
AndyApril 9, 2015 at 10:12 am #425791Hey Andy,
Sorry about the link.. I’d made some changes to the permalink and forgot to update the link here for you.. You’ve got the right page.. I’ve added the little icon to every name now.
I’m running Enfold 3.1.3 and WordPress 4.1.1
(I’ve made the modification to open the tool tip on click, not on hover (but it doesn’t work if I revert to the original anyway)).
I’ve cleared my browser caches multiple times. The tooltips are still not opening on my iPhone or my iPad.
I’ve checked this on the following devices –
1. iPhone 4s, iOS version 8.2, on browsers Chrome Mobile 41.0, and Safari 600.1.4
2. iPhone 4, iOS version 7.1.2, on browser Safari 9537
3. iPad 3, iOS 7.0.4, Safari 9537
I think this may be a theme issue specific to iOS.
Regarding nesting content elements, what I mean is, can I put a toggle INSIDE a tab?
Thanks!
April 9, 2015 at 10:14 am #425793Incidentally, there seems to be something wrong with posting replies here.. When I click ‘submit’ it goes to a blank page.. ?.. Not sure if this is just a problem with me or some issue with the forum (I’m on Windows 8.1, Chrome 41).. Just thought I’d let you know.. :)
April 13, 2015 at 3:08 pm #427512Hey.. Any update on this..?
April 14, 2015 at 8:17 am #428037Hi!
I get the same result on my iphone as you do, did you try to clear the W3 cache and disable it while testing?
Btw, bumping your thread will put it in the back of our queue.
Cheers!
RikardApril 20, 2015 at 11:31 am #431214Hi Rikard,
I didn’t know about the bumping bit. Thanks for that.. I won’t do it again!
To answer your questions, yes, I’ve cleared the cache, disabled W3 and still the same result.
In fact, if you just visit the Enfold Demo on your iPhone or on an iPad, you’ll see that anything with tooltips doesn’t work (check the image with hotspots demo, for example). So I think it’s safe to say that it isn’t with my installation alone, or with any plugin conflict. Looks like the latest update doesn’t work on iOS..
Can you just test this out yourself and see if theres a patch you can give me? Thanks!
April 30, 2015 at 7:53 pm #437745Hi!
Image with Hotpost’s tooltips will be displayed at the below the image on mobile view, that’s the expected behaviour.
Best regards,
JosueApril 30, 2015 at 8:07 pm #437749Josue, please read my previous posts thoroughly. The tooltips are NOT working at all on iOS. I’ve tested this on an iPad and iphone across multiple browsers.. They’re not appearing above or below or anywhere. And this is not just an issue with my installation.. Check your own demo on an iphone or iPad and you’ll see the issue.
Could you guys get around to this soon pl? I’ve been waiting a long time and I know you’re busy.. But I’d like someone to understand and acknowledge the issue and just tell me when you’ll get around to it.. Even if it’s a month from now, that’s cool, but I gotta tell my client something.
Incidentally, I’ve moved the site.. So pl check out http://www.cbs.org.in/courses/pgpm-courses/hr-management-course/#tab-id-2 and the little icons beside each faculty name.
Thanks.
April 30, 2015 at 8:41 pm #437768On which iOS/Safari version are you experiencing this?
April 30, 2015 at 9:19 pm #437791Here you go:
I’ve checked this on the following devices –
1. iPhone 4s, iOS version 8.2, on browsers Chrome Mobile 41.0, and Safari 600.1.4
2. iPhone 4, iOS version 7.1.2, on browser Safari 9537
3. iPad 3, iOS 7.0.4, Safari 9537
Rikard’s seeing this on his iphone too.
He thought it was just a problem with my site, but like I’ve said any site using the latest enfold theme seems to have this problem, not just mine.
May 4, 2015 at 11:00 pm #439390Hi!
I am seeing on my iphone as well. I asked my teammates to check your website on their Android devices to make sure that issue is IOS related. Which version of the theme are you currently using?
Best regards,
YigitMay 5, 2015 at 9:32 am #439576Hey Yigit,
I’m running the latest wordpress and enfold versions. I updated Enfold yesterday from 3.1.3 to 3.1.5 but the problem is still there.
Like I said though, it’s not just my site.. Check the Enfold Demo on an IOS device and you’ll see that the tooltips don’t work.
May 8, 2015 at 4:20 pm #441600Hey!
Your links are giving me 404’s. I checked our demo on a Moto E Android 5.0 phone though and the tooltips are displaying fine. I’m not sure how it works on iOS but with Android you have to do a “long tap” to simulate a hover.
Cheers!
ElliottMay 8, 2015 at 4:26 pm #441608Hey Elliot,
Links on the first couple of posts will return 404s because I’ve moved the site to a new domain..
Check this link out pl:
http://www.cbs.org.in/courses/pgpm-courses/hr-management-course/#tab-id-2(Small red icons beside each faculty member’s name..)
Pl note that I’ve modified the code as per instructions provided on another thread to disable tooltip on hover — instead, tooltips appear only on click.
As far as I know, it seems to work fine on android.. But if you test it out on iOS mobile (even the Enfold Demo), you’ll see the issue — tool tips just don’t appear. Long tap, double tap.. No juice.
May 14, 2015 at 11:47 pm #444670Hi!
We have reported the issue to our devs. Issue will be looked into and updates will be posted to this thread.
Best regards,
YigitMay 28, 2015 at 7:25 pm #451386Any updates to this thread? I too cannot see any tooltips when viewed on an Android mobile using Firefox. Example page http://www.websiteproud.com/wptest/location/travel/
