We are dividing our website into two: English and French Canadian and are removing WPML. The only items I need to have translated into French are “Read More” and the date format. I tried changing the WordPress language to French Canadian and that took care of the date but not the Read More.

What is the absolutely simplest and cleanest way to address this?

The thread you’ve linked me to has me believing that to use Loco Translate I will have to modify theme files? Am I understanding that correctly?

    Hi beverlystone,

Could you please give us a link to your website, we need more context to be able to help you.

I changed it to French and there is no change to the Read More. Links are included in the private area.

I’m just checking in to see if this post is still active.

Awesome! I am catching on. There is still one more (Twitter) which I will put in the private area below. I have translated it but it’s still showing up in English.

    Hi,

    Thank you for the update.

Which twitter element are you trying to adjust exactly? Please provide a screenshot or a link to the actual page containing the element. The string translation in the screenshot is for the text in the theme options. It won’t affect the front end.

    Best regards,
    Ismael

The one in the footer in the right hand column. It’s on every page because it is in the footer. Link below.

If you are saying that I’m adjusting the text in the wrong place, please tell me where to do this.

    Hi,

Login credentials did not work for me. I checked the widget on my local installation and switched the language to German and it loaded translated version. Please make sure you are translating correct strings.

If you would like us to look into it for you, please check WP admin logins once again and post correct translation so we can update the string for you :)

    Best regards,
    Yigit

I made those credentials specifically for you. Just now, I have reset the password and will put it in the private area below.

I don’t want German. I want French. I am translating the correct string and have shown you where it’s not working so I don’t know what else I can provide that I haven’t already.

If you do it for me, I still want to know where to do it.

    Hey,

On your installation those strings are not available in French for some reason. I checked French on my local installation but it shows up fine – https://imgur.com/a/2MMG4rJ.
Could you please post FTP logins here privately as well so we can check French language files?

    Best regards,
    Yigit

    Thank you. SFTP below…

    Hi,

I updated French language files on your installation. Please review your website :)

Wonderful! Thank you. Two follow-up questions…

    1) When Enfold is updated, will I lose this change?

    2) Am I correct to do the translations in Loco Translate under the active theme Enfold, then choose French and then look for the string?

    #1161977

    Hi,

    You are welcome!

    1- No, you will not.
2- Yes, you are correct :)

    Best regards,
    Yigit
