I have had some major dramas with Enfold since updating to WP 4.0. In the course of fixing these issues I found some interesting things I would like to share with other Enfold users, hopefully these will be helpful to someone.
So I updated to WP 4.0 and after found that I couldn’t access the advanced layout editor editor at all. This turned out to be a problem with LayerSlider. Looked like LayerSlider wouldn’t load in the editor and there fore nothing else could load.
I updated to the Enfold 3.9.2, this didn’t help but is was good to get the new update in place.
Dropped $20 on the paid version of LayerSlider which initially didn’t help, however after I selected “Use Google CDN version of jQuery” in the Layerslider ‘Troubleshooting and Advanced Settings and after that I could successfully open the Advanced Layout Editor.
Next I went to re arrange my menu structure but found I could no longer drag my menu items around – at all – it was impossible to edit the menu. The solution it turns out was related to my earlier problem with LayerSlider.
Selecting “Use Google CDN version of jQuery” in the Layerslider ‘Troubleshooting and Advanced Settings’ apparently calls JQuery into the admin area. Un ticking that allowed me again to use the Menu Structure editor and all is well.
So in short if you have an issue with Layerslider try selecting the “Use Google CDN version of jQuery” in the Layerslider ‘Troubleshooting and Advanced Settings’ but remember you will need to turn it off if you wish to edit the menu structure.
Enfold is a great theme with great support but there appears to be a few bugs between LayerSlider and the theme, which considering they are (correct me if I’m wrong) are made by the same people. I would personally like to see some more work done here.
I hope the above helps someone having similar problems.
Cheers from NZ
Kerry
