    Hi,

There’s something weird happening on the new website I’m working on, and I haven’t been able to figure out what causes it.
When clicking through the menu items in the header, depending on the page, the logo and the menu items, and everything on the page, move a bit to the left or to the right. It’s a small change, but quite annoying. The menu and logo should stay in one place right? I didn’t make any global changes to those pages, that might be causing this.
Could you help me find what’s causing it?

    Thanks in advance!
    Best, Haiko.

    Hey rhae,
Thanks for your question, but I clicked every one of your menu items in Chrome on Windows, but I didn’t see any change in your logo or header position.
can you explain what browser are you using and make a screencast of the issue, perhaps it was so little that I missed it?

    Best regards,
    Mike

Hi Mike, thanks for the fast reply!
    I’m using Safari 16.1 on MacOS 12.6.1.
I’ve shared a wetransfer link to a screenrecording. You’ll see the logo, the menu and the text on the page jumping a bit from the left to the right, depending on the page you’re on. It’s always the same, so it must be a setting or some code somewhere.

    Hi,
Thanks for the screencast, I checked on Safari on a Mac and saw this and found it was because in the Enfold Theme Options ▸ Advanced Styling you had your menu item set to a font-weight of 300, and the active menu items had the font-weight of 400, so depending on the length of the menu item text the menu was getting longer or shorter, I set both to 400 and this corrected.
Please clear your browser cache and check.

Hi Mike, that was my first thought as well, and I tried it before, but it didn’t solve the problem I’m afraid. See the new screenrecording.

    Hi,
Thanks for the screencast, but I’m not seeing this, please see my screencast in the Private Content area.
    I’m using Safari v16.1
    macOS Monterey v12.6.1
Safari can be hard to clear the cache, often you need to also clear the history to fully purge the cache, following these steps for Safari and note Step 4 where you will Clear the History.

Hi Mike, that’s really strange! I believe you when you say that it might be a cache problem in Safari, but I just tested in two other browsers, in which I never opened the website before, and they have the same issue. Firefox 106.0.1 and Tor 11.5.4. Especially Tor should not have any caching present after I close it.
I also have it on my laptop and my iPhone, so it’s not just one device with the issue.
Any idea’s what else it might be?

    Best, Haiko.

    Hi,
Perhaps you are using a CDN like cloudflare or similar? So perhaps you are getting network cached files that have not updated yet, and the files I’m seeing has been updated?
I’m just guessing since I am not seeing the shift anymore, try clearing your server cache and any CDN cache and wait 12 hours and check again.

    Best regards,
    Mike

Hi Mike, thanks for looking into it. We’re not using a CDN, and are not using any caching plugins either, the site is still being build. I’ll give it some time, but it’s not just me seeing the issue on different computers. My colleague has it as well.

    Best, Haiko.

    Hi,
I have asked the rest of the team to check if they can see the shift and offer any advice.

    Best regards,
    Mike

Hi Mike, do you have any update from your colleagues? We’re still experiencing the issue, my client as well, and the website will go live tomorrow morning.

    Hi,
Thanks for your patience, one member said he saw the shift but didn’t know where it was coming from. I checked again today after clearing my cache and history, but I didn’t see it like the screencast I posted above.

    Best regards,
    Mike
