Does the mega menu work in the footer? It’s just displaying as a regular menu, even though mega menu is selected in the parent item.

Mega menu is not supported in footer menu. You are going to need to find a plugin for such feature. Please feel free to request – or vote if already requested – such feature on Enfold feature request form.
