Hello,
I wanted to embed my first video in Avia Layout Builder -> Media Elements -> Video -> Content -> Insert video.
Trying any filter setting, video file is not displayed and can’t be selected.
I uploaded the mp4 file (481 MB) via FTP to folder uploads/2018/07/cante01.mp4.
Thanks in advance
Rolf
Hey rolf2,
Please try uploading the video via the WordPress > Media Library
when you upload any file with the media library wordpress registers it in the database so it can be used, but when you upload via FTP wordpress doesn’t know that it is there.
As an alternative you could use a plugin to scan your uploads folder and add the files to the database.
Best regards,
Mike
Hi Mike,
okay, but upload limit is 200 MB and file size is 450 MB. Do I have to convince webhosting company to change server settings?
Best regards
Rolf
Hi Rolf,
Yes, you can ask them to do it for you, even if it is possible to do it only temporarily.
If you need further assistance please let us know.
Best regards,
Victoria
Using FTP is important- as FTP client support pause/resume/etc. We need a way to upload media via FTP and get Enfold to recognize it somehow.
i can only strongly advise not to self-host videos of this size. Your server will go down if even one or two visitors to your site watch the video.
This is one of the reasons for the existence of Vimeo, Youtube, etc.
Hi,
@cnovey this is a core WordPress issue, for files to show in the media library they must be registered in the WordPress database.
The only way to do this is with a plugin, we do not recommend any certain plugin to achieve this, nor have we tested their current compatibility, but this tutorial recommends the Add From Server plugin, but please read about it carefully first and use it at your own discretion.
I recommend that you take Guenni007’s advice.
In the future please create a new thread for your questions instead of re-opening a 3-year-old thread, thank you for your understanding and for using Enfold.
Best regards,
Mike
