Hello,
my english in not so good, but I try to explain my problem. I use the masonry gallery with 24 Images, 12 images are high size, 12 images horizontal format. I habe 6 columns and 4 rows.
I sorted the images in the gallery like this grid:.
Frist row: 1. high size 2. horizontal 3. high size 4. horizontal 5. high rize 6. horizontal
Second row: 1. horizontal 2. high size 3. horizontal 4. high size 5. horizontal 6. high size
Third row: 1. high size 2. horizontal 3. high size 4. horizontal 5. high rize 6. horizontal
Fourth row: 1. horizontal 2. high size 3. horizontal 4. high size 5. horizontal 6. high size
So it should be a rectangle.But if I edit it and take a look at the result, the sequence of my images are not like my sorting in the gallery. For Examle, two hige size image are behind each other.
I also tried it with 4 columns and 6 rows, but its the same issue.

I couldn’t find the masonry gallery in question on the link you’ve provided. Can you provide us a precise link showing the elements in question please? Not sure what you mean though. I think screenshots would help, to make things clear for us.
Keep in mind that WordPress is cropping images by default when uploading them and if you want to control this behavior you can use a plugin like this: https://wordpress.org/plugins/simple-image-sizes
