Hi, I’m building up a new website and want to use masonry gallery on my home page in order to have my page split in two (couldn’t figure out to do that in another way) but found that the pictures resolution gets very poor.
Compare this picture: althermo.com with these ones althermo.com/test-home.
How can I fix this?
Thanks.July 17, 2017 at 9:42 am #822428Hey Gian Maria,
You can change the thumbnail size on Settings > Media. Change the Large Size value then regenerate the thumbnails using this plugin:

July 24, 2017 at 11:29 am #828967My largest thumbnail size is 1030×1030 px and the pictures I uploaded are 1024x768px.
As a matter of fact, if I set only one picture it looks perfect.
I need to have two big pictures side by side and masonry gallery is great for that but the pictures quality looks poor.July 24, 2017 at 12:01 pm #828977Btw, I did what you suggested and changed the thumbnail size to 2000×2000 px, then I regenerated them but nothing happened. Still poor resolution.

Have you attempted image uploads with WP Smush deactivated?

Jordan ShannonJuly 26, 2017 at 5:16 pm #830261Actually not. But it should affect all the pictures, not only the one in masonry gallery. But as I showed you, I don’t have the same issue on other pictures.

July 26, 2017 at 8:37 pm #830331Hi,
I am not seeing any obvious cause for this issue at all. If the goal is two split screen the images on the page then perhaps full-width color section would do the trick? Have you attempted this method?

Jordan ShannonJuly 26, 2017 at 8:40 pm #830333Hi,
Also try to use this plugin: https://wordpress.org/plugins/simple-image-sizes/ then go to Settings > Media there are lists of sizes in there you should be able to change it.
Apologies about not having a direct answer or solution but again there is not obvious cause for what is going on.

I’m not sure I understood. Full width color section is not splittable, so how can I achieve that goal?

I’ll try this plugin. Btw, I’ve noticed the same issue on portfolio grid.
July 27, 2017 at 8:44 am #830504it worked! thanks.
Maybe it can help to let people choose the pictures size when creating a masonry gallery. Just a suggestion for next releases.July 27, 2017 at 10:21 am #830561Hi! We’re glad that the solution worked.
