Hey there, I think I found a bug with Enfold’s Masonry block. I have a few posts I want to display that are in two categories, let’s say ‘My category’ and ‘upcoming’. Picking those two categories and switching the inclusion logic to AND results in my Masonry showing no posts. This happens regardless of chosen categories to be on the same level or a mixture of main and sub-categories, or different categories that match other posts, I already tried that.
Needless to say, categories and posts are published, not private, and WordPress and Enfold are on current versions, thus up-to-date. Is this a known issue with Enfold these days?

    Hey enoversum,

    Thank you for the inquiry.

Please note that when you set the Terms Relation to AND, your posts must belong to the selected categories for them to display in the list. If you have two categories, for example, the posts should belong to both categories. Is this how your posts are set up? If not, you have to set it back to OR.

    Best regards,
    Ismael

    Good morning, Ismael,

thanks for your swift reply! And yes, of course I set up my posts exactly the way as described. Let’s say, there are 30 posts belonging to the category ‘My category’, 10 belonging to to ‘Upcoming’, and two posts belonging to BOTH categories. Hence an AND rule including both categories should display TWO posts, but the module does not pull any posts. Tried it with other categories as well, just to make sure we didn’t set up something wrong. Posts just won’t show.

    Best
    Eno

    Hi,

    Thank you for the update.

This seems to be functioning correctly from our side. Please check the screenshots provided in the private section. Could you confirm the version of the theme installed on your site? Please make sure that it’s updated to version 5.6.10. If the theme has been updated and the problem persists, please provide the login credentials in the private field.

    Best regards,
    Ismael

    Hey Ismael,
not at a computer right now, but did you try the Masonry element instead of the Blog Posts element? That’s where the trouble lies ☺.

@Ismael, just to confirm, we’re on 5.6.10, so the latest version of your theme.

Actually, you have already described it in sufficient detail above. Just to be on the safe side, there are posts that belong to both categories.
As you can see here on an example page, I chose the “and” in the logic, and in fact only those posts are listed that belong to both categories. So I cannot confirm this behavior.

I will now test the masonry element you mentioned underneath. …

You can see that the Masonry also shows the same posts as the blog post element. ( of course the sorting option no longer makes sense here )

PS: btw. i want to test the magazine element too – but it does not have that logic option. Maybe a good idea to have it here too.

Hey @guenni007, thanks for posting your results. It’s really weird—when I set up another test site and use the AND logic, it’s simply working (with newly created posts and categories). Also, on the site where the AND categories logic is failing, if I pick some other categories, it would show, on some it won’t. But I can’t really figure out the pattern why it’s failing in some cases. It might be due to some ‘old’ setting or hidden remainder of categories that have a # in the beginning, like #News instead of News, but even renaming them won’t help. Any post belonging to some categories or their child categories just won’t show if I use the AND logic.

    @Ismael
is that something that could be a left-over from a former theme state/database error? From what it looks, some (older) categories cannot be included in the AND logic, but I also can’t really tell the age.
    For example:

    Post 1 – Categories: #Myhashcat, My cat 2, upcoming
Post 2 – Categories: ChildhashCat (child category of #Myhashcat), My cat 2, upcoming
Post 3 – Categories: ChildhashCat (child category of #Myhashcat), upcoming
    Post 4 – Categories: ChildhashCat, #Myhashcat, upcoming

Masonry with My cat 2 + upcoming (AND logic): 2 posts are showing
Masonry with #Myhashcat + upcoming (AND logic): no posts showing
Masonry with ChildhashCat + upcoming (AND logic): no posts showing

    Hi,
Thank you for your patience, I believe that a hashtag in the category name could cause issues, since you say that removing the hashtag doesn’t solve but new categories without the hashtags work correctly, I recommend creating new categories and add them to your posts.

    Best regards,
    Mike
