    I am building a new site for a client on WP Engine. I tried adding an API Key for Google maps to work. I guess it is not working because I have not added a payment method to the google account, but I am loathe to do it under my name – so maybe I wait until we are ready to launch.
    “Could not connect to Google Maps with this API Key.”

    For a while there seemed to be another option to add a map – like OpenMaps or something. Can’t see it now.

    Are there alternatives I can use for adding a simple map with one marker that work well with the theme?

    Hey Frank,

    Sorry for the late reply. Please check under Theme Extensions in the top WordPress menu, you will find Open Street Maps there. I’m not 100% sure that what you are looking to achieve is possible, but that is the alternative which is included in the theme.

    I ended up going straight to Google maps and creating a map I embedded on my page and that seems to work just fine for what I need.
