Trying to get the Mailchimp widget that is included in my Kriesi Enfold theme to work. I have entered the correct Mailchimp API into the theme, it has communicated with Mailchimp and I gotten a listing of my email lists.

But when I try to test the subscribe form live on the very bottom of this page:

… it errors out, seems like the send button freezes and saying “Sending” for minutes and not showing the ‘Thank you for subscribing to our newsletter’ and without entering the new subscriber to the MAILCHIMP list, which I checked afterwards in the adience within th MAILCHIMP account.

Could you please help me with this!

    Hi,
Thank you for the link to your site and the screenshot, I see that you are getting a 500 server error from your Mailchimp form, but I’m not sure if it’s from your site or from Mailchimp. I tested Mailchimp on my demo site and it worked correctly, Please include an admin login to your site in the Private Content area, I would like to test further.
But first, try disabling all of your plugins and check to ensure this is not due to a conflict.

    Best regards,
    Mike

    Hi,
Thank you for the login, I tested my Mailchimp API & form on your site and still got the 500 error on your site, while it’s working fine on my demo site.
I see that you have a Mailchimp script in your Insert Headers and Footers plugin, this should not be needed, and quite a few plugins.
Have you tried disabling your plugins and testing Mailchimp?

    Best regards,
    Mike

    Hi Mike

Thank you for your update and detailed feedback.

    1) I just deleted the Mailchimp script in your Insert Headers and Footers plugin.

    2) I debugged a couple of plugins, which are not necessarily needed at the moment.

Now the Mailchimp API & form seems to send something, however no visual feedback on website, nor data received in the Mailchimp account.

Coudl you please have another look at it?

    Much appreciated!

    Best regards

    Hi,
Thanks for the feedback, I tested again as you had the site set and also experienced the empty Mailchimp response and no added contacts to my list.
I then disabled all of your plugins and got a successful Mailchimp response and the contact was added to my account.
I then returned everything back to the way it was, please try disabling all of your plugins and test your Mailchimp form enabling one plugin at a time until it breaks, then you will know which plugin is causing the conflict.
Sorry, I don’t know of an easier way to do this.

    Best regards,
    Mike

    Hi Mike

Thank you for your help, this is exatly what I did and it worked fine for me (had to substitute one plugin with another one that has no conflicts with Mailchimp widget).

One last Question regarding the mailchimp widget: Since I have it embedded on the website now for two different purposes a) for plain newsletter registration and b) to download freebies, how can the widget automatically be set to send a Mailchimp-Tag or a field or Button Text, which is received by Mailchimp in order to separate the two groups of leads with e.g different email strings?

Thank you for sharing your ideas on that!

    Best regards,
    Philipp

    Hi,
Glad to hear that you have this sorted out. For your last question, you will need to create two forms in Mailchimp, then both forms will show in Enfold, and then just choose each form according to the page. In Mailchimp you will have two lists, one for your newsletter, and the other for download freebies.

    Best regards,
    Mike

    Hi Mike

Thank you for your answer, I checked within Mailchimp and I am not sure whether I can create 2 forms for 1 list.

For clarification I send you two Enfold screenshots: 1. showing the widget I use in Enfold for registering a new leads to my mail-chimp list and 2. showing the options I have to select the list. My aim is to add all new leads to this one list, however tagged with adding two different tags such as for a) ‘newsletter’ and for b) ‘freebie’. How can I leverage this widget to add tags to the new leads? Similar to the answer provided here:

    https://stackoverflow.com/questions/52496160/add-tags-to-mailchimp-subscriber-created-via-api-php

which however is too technical for me, so that I cannot implement this provided answer for my Enfold environment.

Thank you so much for helping me on this issue!

    Hi,
Thanks for the link to the StackOverflow solution, but I don’t see a way to integrate this into our MailChimp element.
I recommend creating a form on the MailChimp site using the Embedded form option from the dashboard and placing it in a code block element.
To start click the Create icon at the top of the menu
    2022-03-15_001.jpg
    then the Embedded form option
    2022-03-15_002.jpg
in the wizard you will see the Tags option
    2022-03-15_070815.jpg
then complete your form and copy the code
    2022-03-15_005.jpg
and add it to a code block element
    2022-03-15_006.jpg
and when it is used the contact will be added to your list with the Tag
    2022-03-15_007.jpg
    Please give this a try.

    Best regards,
    Mike

    Hi Mike

Thank you for sharing. I just tired, but my first experience is that the style and fonts look so different from my Enfold style plus everything seems in English …

Is there an easy way to make the Embedded form look like the rest of my page (e.g. fonts, button style)?

The way you described the Embedded form, can I jave two of them with different tags?

Finally, maybe there is a fallback solution to the Enfold Mailchimp API: Since this is a relatively new feature, Enfold asks for feedback to implement future requirements. Could you specify the requiredment of having a pulldown menue with the available tags within the selected list? This might me value added not just for me. Or do you think it would make sense for me to get the StackOverflow solution programmed by a e.g. Fiver programmer?

Just looking for the easiest way to get this done.

Thank you for sharing your thoughst on this!

    Best regards

    Hi,
I didn’t check if you can create the forms in other languages, but if you are not able to use it in your language I would recommend asking Mailchimp about this.
I will put in a feature request to the Dev Team for adding a Tag integration, and reply here when I hear back from them.

    Best regards,
    Mike
