Hi there,
I’m having a lot of problems with the Mailchimp plugin.
Most of the time I get the “We are very sorry but something went wrong. Please try again later.”
When it does actually accept an email address, it doesn’t make it through to my Mailchimp.com list
I have tried re-installing the plug in and getting a new API code and it works the first time and then the problem arises again.
Please can you help?
ThanksNovember 21, 2018 at 4:24 pm #1036150Hey hbourdillon,
Please let us know when we can check.
Best regards,
VictoriaNovember 21, 2018 at 5:52 pm #1036210Hi Victoria,
Please refresh and it will come back up. I have also notified the site host of this situation.
ThanksNovember 22, 2018 at 3:21 pm #1036545Hi hbourdillon,
I do not see errors on our end. Can you check the errors on the Mailchimp end?

Did you manage to subscribe okay and get a confirmation? Nothing has come through on my Mailchimp list….
Thanks
HelenaNovember 23, 2018 at 3:17 am #1036836Hi,
Thank you for contacting us.
I checked your site but did not find the mailchimp form no the contact page. Please see the attached screenshot. Your login credentials are also not working for me.What error do you get?
Were you able to set it up correctly in the Enfold options?
Did you try using the built-in mailchimp element? Or a third party plugin?
We await your reply.
Best regards,
VinayNovember 23, 2018 at 10:42 am #1036909Hi Vinay,
Thank you for your response.
Apologies, I removed the subscription box from the Contact Page but it is on the Blog page (see link below) and on the bottom of every blog post.
I have also posted the Kriesi username and password
The error is – “We are very sorry but something went wrong. Please try again later.”
I am using the MailChimp element and it did work the first 2 times I tried (subscription was successful and the subscribing email showed up in my MailChimp.com list) Now I just get the error message all the time and nothing comes through to my Mailchimp.com list.
Many thanks
HelenaNovember 23, 2018 at 1:21 pm #1036947I have reset the API and now some of the email address I try subscribing with say they are already subscribed but are not showing up in my MailChip.com list.
Other email addresses I try still get the “We are very sorry but something went wrong. Please try again later.”
November 27, 2018 at 1:37 pm #1037992Hi,
Thank you for sharing the link.
The error you are noticing is not related to the theme. I was able to subscribe with my email successfully.
Please try a new email address and it will work fine. If you try an email which already exist the mailchimp throws up an error. Please login to mailchimp site and check the email list and make sure the email you are trying to subscribe is not listed in the database.
To isolate the error further you can simply install the mailchimp code on a default wordpress theme and check if the same email address works.
Best regards,
VinayNovember 27, 2018 at 2:59 pm #1038023Hi Vinay,
Thank you for your response.
I have been in contact with Mailchimp.com and I think it is gradually becoming clearer…
In the past, I have signed up the following emails (see emails below). None of them are showing on the Mailchimp.com list. This is quite possibly because during testing I deleted them so that I could re-subscribe them for further testing.
The problem seems to be that I am unable to do this. Once they have been deleted from the Mailchimp.com, Mailchimp have said “This means that this address can only rejoin the list using the Mailchimp hosted form with Double Opt In enabled, or that specific signup form will need to use a PUT call vs. a POST call.” See full message below.
Is this possible to us PUT call rather than POST in Enfold?
Best wishes
HNovember 28, 2018 at 11:59 am #1038443Hi,
Please enable the double opt-in for your MailChimp list from the MailChimp settings
You can follow this guide to enable the double opt-in options
https://mailchimp.com/help/set-signup-preferences/
You can enable it while creating the list as well
To enable the double opt-in in the enfold theme. Just click on the Mailchimp element and open the options. Here select the “Double opt-in” as seen in the below screenshot.
Best regards,

Both of those are enabled and I still can’t subscribe.
Anything else we can try?
Best wishes
HDecember 1, 2018 at 6:26 pm #1039708Hi there,
Any news on this?
Is there a list somewhere within the code, of emails that have signed up previously (and then been deleted from the list) which prevents them from signing up again?
Thanks
HDecember 2, 2018 at 3:19 pm #1039968Hi,
The double opt-in is already enabled in the theme.
There seems to be an issue on the mailchimp end as enfold does not store the emial address.
Can you please try and delete my email address which I subscribed earlier. So I can try and subscribe again.Best regards,
VinayDecember 2, 2018 at 3:36 pm #1039975Hi Vinay,
Thank you for pursuing this.
I have just logged into my Mailchimp list and there are only 2 emails on the list, one of mine and mailchimp support desk. Yours does not seem to have joined the list….
It also still only says 2 on the plugin’s general settings page.
Best wishes
HDecember 2, 2018 at 7:22 pm #1040022Hi,
The theme does not store the subscription data. We have very little control over mailchimp. Please get in touch with the mailchimp support and let us know what they have to say about this. We will be happy to help you!
Thank you for your understanding.

VinayDecember 6, 2018 at 11:47 am #1041574Hi Vinay,
You weren’t added to the list yet because you haven’t confirmed your subscription via the email sent to you.
I have had a long conversation with Mailchimp and added their code in via a code box which has allowed me to resubscribe the missing addresses so the issue is now solved.
Thank you for your assistance in this matter
Best wishes
